What gets your baby moving?

Looking for ideas on how to get baby to move a bit more for my non stress tests until the end of pregnancy. I feel like almost nothing can just get him to move. He is either lazy or stubborn.

So other than usual moving patterns, how do you get baby to move? Foods? Pokes?

Re: What gets your baby moving?

  • Drinking anything cold or eating pretty much anything.  Girl loves her food.

  • I know exactly where baby's bum has been residing. If I give it a gentle push I normally get a push back, kick or a wiggle. Good luck!
Can't figure out the signature thing, so here's the short, short version.....first daughter born on November 10, 2013. She was conceived through the magic of IVF after 2+ years of TTC.
  • Really cold drinks or spicy food. Not that she normally needs help....I swear she never stops.
  • Music always helps.
IVF, acupuncture, meditation and a miracle.

  • Milk - my little guy goes crazy after a glass of milk.
  • My little guy doesn't normally need help. However, he does like to scare me occasionally and not move at all. When this happens I just drink a big glass of water, sit and wait for the kicks to begin. Another one is strawberries. I don't know why, but my LO turns ninja after I eat strawberries. :)

Food, coffee, laying on my side, and rubbing my belly - especially if I rub her butt!

She doesn't respond to pokes, I can poke her all day long, and nothing, but rub in circles, she goes nuts....weird baby.

ETA: doing cat/cow always gets her moving too!

    Second vote for strawberries.

  • This is going to sound so weird, but he goes NUTS after I eat a PB&J sandwich. And that's about all I've wanted to eat lately because of my awesome acid reflux - I look forward to the daily freak outs :-)

  • I drink OJ on the way to the appointments and she does a all get tricks right away. Yesterday I did apple juice and it didn't work as well.

  • Eating anything gets my baby girl moving or just having daddy talk is enough for her!! I swear she listens to him and responds already!!

  • Thanks for asking this question.. I am having this same problem as well. The buzzer startles her awake.. She jumps massively.. But then she falls right back to sleep!! The GD is preventing me from having much sugar.. But I think I will start trying cold diet soda on my way to my appointment. Because she keeps barely passing. She doesn't pass fully so the doctors then have to sign off on it.
  • Fresca! Fresca is totally my little girl's jam. Ok ok, I like it too :\">
  • Apple cider (hmmmmm so good) and some frank Sinatra played up close (jersey strong! Hehehee) :\">

  • I eat these sorbet ice pops which I don't feel soooo bad about eating because they have real fruit in them, but I think the sweet and cold gets her going.  She also seems to move around a lot if DH and I are talking--but that's probably not going to help with a NST.
  • My baby has been less active the past week but I just had hot chocolate and he is going crazy!
  • The user and all related content has been deleted.
  • Mine lo never seems to stop, but juice always really revs him up! Or I drink the "pregnancy tea" from sprouts and that always works to. (Btw the way, I am counting the days until I can switch from freaking pregnancy tea back to my glorious morning coffee!)

  • Cold drinks and chocolate are her favorites.  I actually brought some chocolate milk to today's nonstress test because she keeps sleeping through them!  And it worked!
