Re: GTKY: Is your name a song?

  • My name is in a John Travolta movie, think musical, with dancing. I hate it.

@BlckRoses - OMG, puh-leeeeeeze say your name is Rizzo.
That would be pretty cool, but no, it's not Rizzo :(  For another hint, 90% of people I have met with my name, have been 30-40 years older than I am.

  • mobile bumping, hence, no caps. i was named for the song 'they call the wind mariah' from the old movie 'paint your wagon'. older people always sing it to me, but it was made in 1969 so no one my age has seen it. everyone always makes the connection with mariah carey. no, i was not named after her. she wasnt even popular when i was born.
I know that song :) - because of high school choir.
  • People think my name came from Fur Elise. It's a pretty song, but they are incorrect.
  • I found my name mentioned in one of those screaming metal songs once, does that count? Haha.

But mostly, people just screw my name up. When they mishear "Clarissa", or just don't care, I get "OOOOOHHH like that lady from Silence of the Lambs!! HELLO CLARICE!"

I've gotten that since middle school. I even got a couple of those creepy tongue sucking things Hannibal does.
  • My name rhymes with a popular Derek and the Dominoes song.

When I was in college I loved "Green Eyes" by Cold Play, which initially attracted me because blue eyes girls get tons of attention, and so does "you're my, brown eyed girl..." but us mutant green eyed ladies don't get as much lyrical love!

    Jessica....its all instrumental though
@moose0512 There's a really pretty song called Jessica by Regina Spektor. Love that song!

Another Amanda here. The only one I ever got sung to me was the Waylon Jennings song, and that was by my dad so I guess that's okay.

I was almost named Aubrey after a song that my mom loved but dad vetoed it since he knew too many guys with the name. (And I'm glad since I am so not an Aubrey), but my mom sings THAT song to me all the time.

  • My name is a song. Roooooxanne! I have learned to embrace people singing it over the years. When I was little I would cry.
  • Yup "Jesse's Girl" and that cheesy song where Jessie "paints her pictures 'bout how it's gonna be"

I like Jesse's Girl.  How many songs can you think of that use the word "moot"?

    Sandra Dee?
  • I don't think my name is in a song but it's in a nursery rhyme.  All my life I got "Where's Jack?"  So effing annoying.

---------/---------------------------//////-------- Frenchie?? Edit: I have no idea how to fix broken quotes. Mobile bumping can eat my lady ballz.
Sandra, but I've always gone by Sandy, so it's mostly just been the "Sandy" song.  Luckily my parents didn't give me a D middle name.

  • As far as I know that is no song with my name in it.  Although there is a Rachel sandwich.
  • Oh yes... according to the Ramones, I am a punk rocker.

@njbabymama - I loved the Pat McGee Band back in college!  I know 'Rebecca' well!

@BPaws - I'm dying to know what your name is.  I may know the first one based on the birds/batman thing.

I'm a Christine, though I can't remember ever being called that except by teachers on the first day of school each year.  I just googled and found a few songs with Christine:  one by Kiss, one by a British band called Siouxsie and the Banshees, and one by Sugarcult.  I've never heard any of them.  I couldn't find any with Chrissie or Chris (what I went by growing up and now).
