  • I'm guessing she means like "Sweet Caroline".

    No, my name isn't.

I love that song SO much. <3
Mostly because it's in 50 First Dates and I'm kinda obsessed with that movie.
  • The only song I've heard my name in is Sean Paul's "Get Busy" when he says Rebecca in some of the bridges, ha. Not sure anyone would sing that to me but I do like my name. My mom wanted to name me Desiree but my dad thought it sounded like a whore. I like the name Desiree but Rebecca fits me much better.

  • Only if someone sings the name game...
  • I just heard Sara Smile on the radio, and I usually get that sung to me. Also Sara by Jefferson Starship and the one by Fleetwod Mac. But my name is spelled Sarah with an H, dammit!

My dad never fails to bring it up when we're talking about names for whatever reason. And sometimes he throws in the extra word "and your name was almost a French whore's name!" Maybe he has a bad association with the word that I'll never know about...
  • No, but I just found out it's a wine.  An expensive wine too

  • My name is in a song and it annoys the car out of me when people sing it.
  • DH likes to sing me the Of Montreal song A Question For Emily Foreman. I think it's really cute and he also set it as my ring tone for when I call him.

My brother's first and last name happens to sound like "my sharona" so people used to sing that to him. I think he found that pretty annoying.

  • Yup, I was actually named after a Waylon Jennings song Amanda.  People would sing to me the Boston song and I'm like nope nope, we're country.

    "Amanda, light of my life

Fate should have made you a gentleman's wife"

    Not very uplifting...

And then you add my middle name, Lynn and it sounds like the instrument Mandolin.  My parents think they are funny.

More than one, even a whole album by Charles Aznavour. (ETA Serge Gainsbourg, not Aznavour)

There is a new one on the radio right now (in French) with my name, which is about a girl who doesn't care that her life is in shambles and forget about it by getting drunk.

    Very autobiographical!
  • Two words....Barry Manilow....I am not a fanilow.

  • My real name is not in a song that I know of. But several coworkers call me Mickity Mak, and one of them will sing that song that's all "yackity yack, don't talk back", but instead say "Mickity mac, don't talk back". That's all I've got lol
  • No, but my name is also the name of a popular grocery store brand of frozen pizza, which people always seem to think is a good idea to bring up when they meet me.

    "Oh, like the pizza!"

    I'm never humored.

  • Nope, my name isn't a song. Which is actually pretty surprising given the number Ashleys born in the 80s and early 90s.

  • Well, my name isn't actually in the song, but it is the alternate title of a song.

Never even heard it until I was a camp nurse a few summers ago and the counselors always sang it to me. I think I have a video of them singing and dancing for me. Lol

My name isn't a song that I know of, but if you spell it differently it's a french name.  So I guess it could be in a french song that I just don't know about. But I will know about it soon. ::runs to google::

ETA:  I found a metal band that says my name once in one of their songs. But it's kind of crap.
Son: Jackson, 11/02/06, stillborn due to PPROM and IUGR. Over the next ten years we had 9 miscarriages from 8-14 weeks. On May 18, 2016 my daughter, Ridley, was born. We're OADNBC.

Celeste? Sorry I had to throw a guess out there.

    Yes :)

So I was nicknamed "Mama Celeste" in middle school.

Which was better than "Celeste Pizzaface" in elementary school.

My parents are idiots. My name isn't even a name. They gave me a unisex name, spelled it the masculine way- and then capitalized another girls name and smushed it all together. So.... Imagine this; JessieRose My name isn't JessieRose (it's early, I was fishing for a unisex Name) . But, I have two first names, two capital letters and it's all one word. And I don't have a middle name. My parents are idiots. I go by the first name. The first name IS in a few songs. But they are all about birds. Or Batman.
DD's birth mom named her KristaLynn. DD goes by Krystal.  Birth mom's brother is deRick (Derick) and her sister is KaiLeigh (Kylee).  It's special.

  • No one sings it to me or whatever, and that's ok because its a pretty sad song, "Cassie" by Flyleaf

The inspiration behind the song was a girl named Cassie Bernall who was murdered at Columbine HS.

Oh Vickie you're so fine, you're so fine you blow my mind, hey Vickie. Hey hey, hey Vickie!

  • I'm another Melissa, and I was named after the Allman Brothers song.  My dad was a serious ABB fan.  He picked out the name when he was 15 and first heard the song.  He said he used to dream about having a little girl with long dark hair named Melissa.  When my mom was pregnant with me, the dr said I was going to be a boy.  She didn't love Melissa, but since she thought she was having a boy, she agreed to it if dad let her pick the boy name.

She was pretty shocked when she woke up from the surgery (bad bad birthing experience) and found out she had a daughter and her name was Melissa.  She loves the name now and I'm glad that she wasn't a big part of the decision making process, because she liked Summer Autumn... And that ladies and gentlemen is why children shouldn't have children.

Lots of people used to sing the song to me; including every guy I ever dated (except DH) and my dad woke me up with it most of my childhood.  He died 4 years ago, and I haven't listened to the song since. I had a clause in the contract with our wedding DJs that if they played the song, they didn't get paid.
