I'm sure this has been asked before but I'm getting my bag packed for the hospital so I don't have to worry about it last minute. What are the key items to pack that actually get used? FTM here and looking forward to seeing her little face already!
September 2013 used to have a sticky post about packing a hospital bag and I actually found it very useful...since most of them have outside babies by now I think they unpinned it from the top but you can go to their forum and search for "hospital bag" and it should come up...I think it's called How to Pack a Hospital Bag or something like that
One tip someone gave me whivch i found really useful is to pack your own soap and, shampoo, but make sure they aren't heavily scented. That first shower will be amazing, but newborns are really sensitive to smell, and they can be very overwhelmed if you have a very perfumey soap. Plus, you want them to learn your scent, not the scent of some random soap.
YES this is has been asked before. Almost on a daily basis by people too lazy to search back a few pages in posts or use the search function. I suggest you start there.
I am packing:
1. Spider-Man costume with the crotch cut out
2. Expired coupons to Boston Market
3. Pet iguana
4. Completed sudoku books
Hope that helps!
Wait a minute...what if I'm having a medically unnecessary surgical extraction?!?! Do I still need the iguana??? And where am I supposed to find one on such short notice?!? BlackMarketReptiles.com it is....
Ladies who have not gotten your iguanas yet-- check your local zoo as they may have extra iguanas to "loan out". I know mine does and it was completely covered by my insurance thanks to the ACA, but only if you get an iguana rx from your doctor!

Does it have to be an iguana? I have 2 geckos.. Will that suffice?
I trained my iguana to work a shoe horn. This is a must. If your iguana nanny can't train this important skill then you should contact Jess...I bet she has at least 3 certified iguana nannies at her disposal.

My sudoku book is not completed. I better get busy! So much to do, so little time.
You better hurry! I was stuck for days on the Advanced Sudoku Puzzles for days. What have you been doing for 8 months?
I've been training my iguana! He's a real bitch to train!
Oh, I hired an iguana nurse for that.
Agreed, a CERTIFIED iguana nurse is the only way to go, in my professional opinion. A lot of these nurses try to get away with not being certified now-a days, so our interview process was very lengthy.
As for the previous poster that asked about geckos....Are you insane!? There is no way that would work. Just no.
My birth experience is going to be far more superior than y'alls because I found a BLUE iguana the other day. Sure it was 3 times the price of the red variety and 5 times the price of the green one but come on. It'll be worth every penny!

If you want to use geckos instead of an iguana, maybe you should look into a home birth.
My cats keep eating the iguanas so we've opted to train the cats. We have a doula kitty, a night nurse kitty and a day nurse kitty.
Jess ain't got nothin on me.
I purchased two cats just incase one decides to nap. We also doubled up on nurses to make sure they were ready.
Oh, and to take care of all the animal fur and bathroom breaks the cats need we hired someone else (and to think, we could have just gotten rid of the cats for eating the iguanas)!!!

So if I birth at home with my geckos, do I still need to pack a bag?
Apparently my original post was ignored and all these crazy ladies just had all the time in the world to talk about iguanas and making a joke out of my posts another reason I don't check out to many posts just non sense!!!!! In the future if u have no good advice please refrain from my questions I actually was looking for some help but I guess u ladies are the lazy ones who rather cause a big joke then help another out! Thanks for nothing

Aahahahaha!!
This made me laugh hardest of all. I wondered what had happened to the OP.

Oh honey, settle down. You're about the 6th person to have this same question in the past week. It just gets a little old/ridiculous to have the same questions over and over.
Why do u have to be so rude about things I obviously don't have all the time in the world seems like u do to make about 25 comments all day long about iguanas seems like u need to get one urself.

You could have easily done a search on Google, TB, etc. in half the time it took you to write this post and all of your responses. Just sayin...

Get an iguana? I've had one since I was four months pregnant.
I'm working on breeding iguanas right now so I can help other pregnant women. When's your due date? There may be enough time to ship you one before you deliver. He won't be trained though.
See, OP, you still have options.
Like I said, I'm borrowing mine from the zoo. If you are near a metro area, I can call your zoo for you tomorrow and see about their iguana lending dept for you and report back the results since you are so busy.
I don't often comment on threads, but so what if this was asked all the time, there is no requirement for you to read it or reply. Someone was asking because they wanted to know, who are you to say they are lazy? Maybe they are new to the boards.... I opened the thread hoping to see good ideas, not people being disrespectful and almost hateful.
"New to the boards" should not equal "New to common sense." It's not that hard to Google what to pack. OP received some legit advice, and then (gasp!) the thread turned into FUN for the people who get sick of seeing the same shit over...and over...and OVER! We must alert the church elders! ::mobile eye roll:: So relax little white knight, quit getting your panties in a wad.
wow - I was ignoring this thread because I couldn't stand another hospital bag post...but when I saw it was 3 pages, I figured it was some whiny newbie. Never expected such a good thread! I can't believe I missed this!....ohh - and I got my whiny newbie too :-p (although I prefer the iguana)
Again, why even bother replying if you were going to be rude? and this isn't my first comment,I just felt telling someone they were lazy was incredibly rude, and extremely judgmental.
According to your profile activity it was, indeed, your first comment. Who are you? Where did you come from? What the heck made you think white knighting would go over any better than the rest of this post?
And trying to use a forum as your own personal answering service without taking the time to intro or **gasp** contribute(!!) to the community IS lazy. If you can't appreciate blunt honesty and a little bit of fun, this is not the place for you.
