Bottles/ schedule Qs

Hi ladies, I know I tend to get a little over concerned about this but I am wondering what your feeding schedules are at this age. My LO's schedule is somewhat the following: 7 am- 6-8 oz bottle 8-830am- breakfast Nap from 10 to 11:30 Btw 11:30-noon 6 oz bottle 12:30-1 lunch The afternoon nap has been a disaster but if he is up around 3 he may or may not have 4 oz bottle Dinner is around 5pm The bottle between 6:30 and 7pm I think the break between breakfast and lunch is too long but he won't take a bottle but ill offer a snack if he takes one. I am also curious about what everyone is doing because a friend said her LO has 2 bottles a day and eats a ton of food. Honestly, I think I stress too much about teaching my kid bad eating habits. Another thing, at what point do they start eating and having a drink? My LO takes a small sip of water with his meals. And if I offer solids first he won't drink his formula right after.

Re: Bottles/ schedule Qs

  • My LO;
    - usually wakes at 4am - nurses
    - slept 4:30 to between 7 and 8
    - breakfast when he wakes
    - nurses around 10 or 11
    - nap for 1-2 hours
    - lunch shortly after he wakes
    - nurses around 2pm
    - nurses around 5pm
    - nap 5:30-6:30 or 7
    - supper around 7:30
    - nurses at 9pm
    - bed at 9:30

The days he is with grandma get totally screwed up. He doesn't sleep well, he (obviously) doesn't nurse, and he won't take a bottle. She feeds him far more at one sitting that I would, and he sometimes comes home with extreme gas, or at least cranky with an upset tummy.
(But she doesn't listen to my requests)

  • Our schedule goes something like this:

    8 AM - 7 oz bottle

9:30 AM - Orange juice and some fruit and toast if she wants

    11:30 AM - Lunch

    1:30 PM - 7 oz bottle

    3:30 PM - Snack (fruit)

    5:30 PM - 6 oz bottle

    7 PM - Dinner

8 PM - Goes to sleep

If we're at home she will nap in the morning around 10 and in the afternoon after the 1:30 PM bottle. During the week she gets to daycare around 10 AM so she won't nap right away, she will usually nap after lunch and then in the car going home around 6:30 PM.

To answer something else you asked: my LO will have water with solids, I give her as much as she wants. I don't keep close tabs but I would say she drinks 2-3 oz with each meal.
  • Ours goes something like this:

    7 Am---8 oz bottle

8:00 am-- breakfast (usually fruit/cheese---daycare) On the weekend a scrambled egg, bread or pancake

    9:30ish--- nap

    10:40-11:00 (up from nap) snack

    12:30 Lunch

2:30 --daycare will attempt bottle--- some days he takes it (about 5 oz) most days he refuses.

    3:30- 3:45-- snack

    5:30 --- 8 oz bottle

    6:45-7:00 dinner

Between 8:15-8:45---bottle. This is hit or miss---he may take 7-8 oz or just 2-3. Depends.

My pedi told me as long as we are hitting 16 or so ounces we're ok, especially since he eats solids really well.

  • 6am wake/nurse
    8am breakfast
    10am 4 oz bottle
    10-11:30 nap
    noon lunch
    1:30pm 4 oz bottle
    1:30-3:00pm nap
    4:30pm nurse
    6:30pm dinner
    8pm nurse and bed

DD has a rotating schedule as to who she's with while I'm at work.  She's at a sitter two days a week and does fabulous with bottles and naps.  When she's with my mom or MIL, naps are not as consistent and sometimes she doesn't get both bottles.

  • Thank you ladies! It helps to see what others are doing. Makes me feel a little more confident. My MIL always teases me lovingly that I worry too much about his eating. I mean he is very healthy. 30 inches and 23 lbs! But we had some feeding issues in the beginning which is why I guess I tend to obsess. Thanks again!
