Car seat?

Okay, I need a new car seat recommendation. DS is finally ready to get out of his infant seat....we are a half inch away from the height limit. What should I get? I want something that is easy to take in and out, can rear face for awhile, and will last a long time height and weight wise. Do big baby car seats still have bases? I don't really want to buy 2 seats, but sometimes I drop DS off at daycare and DH picks him up, so I want something that goes in and out easy

Re: Car seat?

  • Well, at the rate DS is going, that will last until he is 12, lol. He is up to a whopping 19 lb 10 oz

  • Maybe I'll do the same, get a good one for my car, which is usually the "family" car and the cheaper one for DH's car

  • I went with the Evenflo Tribute for the 2nd car and the Britax Advocate for our main vehicle. Thanks guys!

  • We also have the Advocate. Love it! It's huge though.
  • I just got a safety 1st omega elite for $95 at burlington coat factory. It goes from 5lbs to 100. I bought it for daxton. It was hard to find a harness that went higher than 40 but still had an option to do the seatbelt option latwr as a booster. Its worth it. He loves it.

  • Bemyselfandi, you might check out this article: https://csftl.org/the-alpha-omega-why-its-neither-the-first-nor-the-last-nor-the-elite-car-seat/

If the seat is working for you now, that's great, as many find it hard to install correctly. From what I've read, it's not safe as a booster for most kids.

Also the alpha omega was recalled a few weeks ago. I can't remember the details though. I'd have to google it. But I'm sure the ones in the store were replaced with the "unrecalled" versions.

  • I had to get 3 carseats since dh drops dd off at the sitters and I pick up. And then one for the sitters car (my cousin).

Dh and I both have the britax marathon. Got one for $165 and one for $199.

I won a carseat in a raffle at the hospital. Its an evenflow something. I think tribute? Its very very basic. We put that one in the sitters car.

I will say I really miss the ease of the infant seat and being able to easily switch it between all 3 of the bases.

  • I just saw the Graco MyRide 65 for $99 at Target. They had the Nautilus for $140. I think those are good sales?

We have the inexpensive Eddie Bauer seat from Target and we LOVE it.  It's the XRS-65.
