Any tips on doing cio with #2 while #1 is sleeping in the room right next to them? It worked well with#1 so i would like to try again with #2. I am afraid of waking #1. TIa
We attempted a different method than CIO, but DD2 ended up crying a ton anyway. Her crib and DD1's bed were on opposite sides of the same wall, and DD2's crying never bothered DD1, but she's always been a pretty deep sleeper. Now we've got the girls sharing a room and DD2 still fusses before bed some nights, DD1 still falls right to sleep and sleeps right through it.
If you really want to try to block some of the noise for your older LO, try a sound machine or a fan running in their room. The fan blocks a surprising amount of noise.

Try a white noise machine. We had to do CIO with #3 - at bedtime with all 3 going to bed at the same time, it didn't work that well, but thankfully she only cried for 10-15 minutes (and the other 2 kept saying "Mommy, the baby needs you!"), and when she woke up overnight, it never woke the other 2 up (she is still in our room in the pnp since she will be sharing a room with DD#1). Once they are asleep, they don't usually get woken up unless it is in the early hours of the morning. We will be moving DD#1 to a toddler bed and DD#2 into her room this weekend (hopefully). I am not sure how it will go!
We just did it. We closed both their doors and put white noise machines in. DS#2's crying didn't wake up DS#1 or vice versa. However their rooms aren't right next to each other. Next obstacle is putting them in the same room...

The only tip that helped us was to put a white noise machine in #1's room to help drown out sounds of crying.
Good luck!
