For Christ's sake people, I was referring to my coworker, who routinely feeds her kid fast food and other crap, and has told me she never makes a meal. I am not talking about letting your kid eat junk food once in a while. I never mentioned organic, etc. You all need to simmer the F down. And stop trying to top each other with "Mother of the Year" I let my kid eat blah, blah, blah (insert whatever crap.) It gets old. And this wasn't a BF vs FF debate-I purposely didn't even go there.

My kid eats tons of fruit but I can't get him to eat normal meal foods including meat. He only eats Mac & Cheese and kraft at that! I've tried and tried but he won't eat it. Maybe it's a texture thing but I do the best I can and give him what he will eat. DS only had breast milk and it was because it's health benefits but also because I could produce enough for him and it was free as we are on a right budget.

My FFC is I judge people with handicap parking tags whose only disability is obesity and diabetes. I mean you work, you walk ok, you have no issues that keep you from walking the few extra feet. I don't get it. I try not to judge people at all and have an open mind about things but I just can't get past this one.

Except it was bf vs ff because it needed not have even been mentioned. If you came in saying you judged your cw for only feeding crap minus the bf ff business, you may have had ladies disagree with you but no one would have thrown a hissy fit over it.

Aww, @BPaws, I'm sorry, that's shitty. Don't beat yourself up, how could you know? It's such a struggle to know what to do nowadays, no matter what choice you make you end up feeling some guilt, and you just really got the short end of the stick. What is the treatment? Give the poor little guy hugs and kisses

@BPaws don't beat yourself up. You are a great mom! It's hard with little ones to figure out what's going on. More often than not it is something small. You just can't tell until the symptoms show up in full force.
I can't believe he got rubella! I hope he feels better soon.

Also, hair bows are necessary to keep my daughter's hair out of her eyes so she can see. The second the bow comes out, she has hair covering her face past her nose.

I buy free range eggs, antibiotic free/grass fed beef and chicken and go to the farmers market often. But MY GOD. I do the vast majority of my grocery shopping at Aldi. We freaking struggle from pay check to pay check. I can buy two weeks worth of grocerys for our family of 5 for around $130 at Aldi. It would cost me triple that at the health food store.

Please stop rubbing it in my face that we can't afford better foods for our kids.

Can't afford? You can't afford fruits and vegetables? I believe those are cheaper than boxed GMO foods. Stay away from the aisles in the middle of a grocery store and you will be amazed at how much you save and buy local produce.

BPaws, these things happen! I sent Charlotte to daycare Monday totally unaware that by noon she'd be puking her guts our with a 104.6 degree temp. I did my best to make her happy when I picked her up. We can't see the future or read minds! (There's a good GTKY: would you rather see your kid's future or read his mind?)

On the food issue: we are not going to get people (and therefore, kids) to eat more healthfully until we tackle issues like food deserts, better labeling, improved school lunches, and better food education. The coworker who doesn't cook probably doesn't know HOW and it's expensive and time consuming to learn cooking at our age. That person who makes boxed macaroni and cheese every day might not have regular access to a grocery store with produce and meat. The only store walkable from our house is a Family Dollar with neither; if I didn't have a car, I'd have to take a bus to Meijer. It's hard to lug bags of fresh meat and produce on a bus every week! Boxed foods are lighter, cheaper, and don't spoil.

If we are really concerned about fresh, healthy foods for kids, we should get involved with organizations that start farmers markets, support community gardens, and teach basic cooking to parents. Sounds like we all have some pretty mean cooking skills: maybe we should be teaching free community ed classes! Maybe we should start community gardens in our neighborhoods if we care about fresh, affordable produce. Doing something is better than complaining, in my opinion.

We've got to get off this girl's back! She is a super mom. She clearly wrote that she regularly shops the farmers market. Also, you don't know food prices where she lives. And I don't mean to put words in her mouth, but I think she means that all ORGANIC produce would be too costly for her. It would be for me, too! We buy local when we can (we are lucky with access to a farmers market and a large grocery store that carries local-ish produce) and regular when we can't, but rarely buy organic at the grocery store.
