Heavy womb

Is this normal? I started feeling this about a week or so ago. My womb feels heavier, which makes sense since there's a growing person inside of me! But at the same time, my reaction to this sensation is one of fear. I fear that my belly is becoming more and more fragile and that I need to protect it from even simple things like grocery bags banging into it. Maybe I'm just misinterpreting this sensation... What do you ladies think? Sensation and perception is an interesting thing.

  • You're fine, your belly is fine. Relax!

  • I have been experiencing this too. I felt it with my first pregnancy but more so towards the last few weeks and not as frequently during the day. I think this baby is just sitting super super low. Sometimes it feels like she is literally trying to push her way out already! It feels like a lot of pressure on my cervix or something. I can already tell I am carrying much lower this time around, and it does make it feel more "heavy" in general.

This might be it. I was surprised to feel this sensation so early though. My tiny baby bump is growing from the very bottom of my pelvic area so maybe you're right...

  • I'm starting to feel uncomfortable in my own skin. Even after a small meal, I feel like I ate a Thanksgiving dinner in that my skin is stretched to the max. This makes me nervous since I have 13 weeks to go and it's only going to get worse.

  • This is such a funny way to put it, but u think I know what you mean. Is this your first?
I told my doc I was feeling a lot of pressure down low and she said its just one of the fun parts of being a STM those muscles are just not as strong.
I don't feel sensitive in my belly more like on my cervix or down in my butt(sorry TMi)
But don't worry your belly is safe.

Yes, I'm a FTM. I feel the pressure around my bladder. Like on the lower anterior part of my abdomen. Doesn't quite feel like the pressure is on my cervix or butt. Maybe it's the feeling of the baby and my belly growing out?

  • I just said to my husband yesterday that it feels like LO is just laying on my incision (had a C-section with DS).  I have a lot of pressure in my lower abdomen as well and thought it was strange this early on, but it makes sense, especially since I had the section.  My muscles are not strong...well, they are probably non-existent at this point.  Glad I'm not the only one! I was wondering for a second why I felt 'heavy' in the belly so early on.

    Hang in there!

  • I've been having this "heavy" feeling too, and am looking into getting a support band that I hear helps and makes it feel like someone is holding your baby up for you lol
