When are you planning your baby shower?

When do you plan on having your baby shower???
I will be starting my 3rd trimester the middle of December and curious when people are doing them with the holidays so close.

Probably mid January. I don't want to do it too late - I had a friend who had a preemie and never got to have her shower. I think sometimes between 32-34 weeks would be good.

Probably early to mid January. I am praying I make it past 32 weeks, but I am not too sure about making it to term so we'll see.

I'm thinking late Jan. My mom originally mentioned Valentine's Day, but I kind of want to reserve that weekend for the last Valentine's Day as just the two of us.

My best friend just asked me about having a shower for me today actually. We haven't really talked it over yet obviously, but I'm thinking probably mid-January. I'm a crazy person and decided to go on vacation the first week of February, so I don't want to try to cram too much stuff in that last month before baby is scheduled to arrive.

My mom mentioned something about the beginning/middle of January. I think the 11th was floated around as a possibility.

Her biggest concern was not interfering with football playoffs, haha.

My mom is throwing one tentatively in mid November and my mil is throwing one tentatively in mid December but I'm also carrying twins and you just never know!!!

In Two weeks, seems early but My mom thought it would be a good idea to do a reveal shower because I live far away (I'm the only one all family is in wi) and def don't want to drive back in January... It's about 75 miles of interstate type road and then the rest is all country back roads.....
I am sure ill visit but picking a day and sending out invites would only guarantee a huge storm that weekend!

No way I'll be traveling that far that preggo in a storm

Plus we wanted to get it done for the holidays, next time we are home is thanksgiving then Xmas(maybe depending on dh work) then who knows!

I'm due early march but my doctors keep saying I'm high risk and may go into preterm labor. There's so many birthdays in February including mine. So my shower may be early January after the holidays! I'm so excited.

My cousin and my Mom are throwing one for me the week of Christmas, because I live about 16 hours away and that's the only time I'll be visiting my family before baby arrives.

My friends are planning one for me (where I live) on January 18th. So I have one for my out of town family and one for local friends.

My family/friends shower will be in early January (talking about 4th or 11th) and my shower with a social group I belong to will be in February. Work will likely throw one (we traditionally do, but no one has mentioned anything yet) and if what we've done for others is instructive it'll be 2~3 weeks before I schedule my leave.

If I go really early the 2 Feb ones would likely be rescheduled to include baby some time in April.

That would be my family too

. Unfortunately my MIL was not so aware with my first and planned my shower for super bowl Sunday. Of course my team made it (and won!) but they live in a different state and no one else cared about football. I still got to see the game, it just wasn't as much fun.

I'm not really sure. Both my Mom and MIL are throwing me one. My Mom lives in Orlando which is about a 7 hour drive from Key West where I live with my husband. (his family also lives down here). My MIL will probably do hers in late January or February. My Mom, however, is waiting on my next prenatal appointment. She wants me to ask my DR when he'd recommend me having the one in Orlando since I will need to drive 7 hours.

We are doing a small gender reveal for the fathers side of the family, will announce the gender to my side mostly on facebook, (my family is all over from washington, to wisconsin, to New zealand)

Will be doing the baby shower in November.

Might as well do it when the most family is going to be in town anyway and save everyone some gas!

My SIL is throwing one for me mid-December. That will be mostly my family and a couple friends. (and 3 hours NW from my home at my moms).

DH's Aunt that lives in town is also throwing one late Jan/early Feb that will include my local friends and any of his family that wants to come. They're all 6-8 hours away, so not sure how many will come out.

Mid November and Mid December. I feel like November is way too early (I'll be 25 weeks), but my mom insisted on doing it before the holidays, saying that after it may be too close (all 3 of us kids were super preemie, so I think she's worried I'll follow suit).

They're hosting it, so I let them pick the dates. My only requirement was that it AT LEAST be after viability. My mom didn't seem to understand that any earlier I wouldn't even be rocking a convincing bump.

The week of Christmas because i live in VA and all of my friends and family live in FL and I will be down the week of christmas. My doctor keep saying she will be happy if i make it to 34 weeks which is mid jan so I dont want to risk it and I am not planning on going to FL again

I have 2. One, I'm flying back home for is on December 8th. Wanted to fly early 3rd Trimester for the obvious reasons. This will also be special as we are going to have our doc put gender in an envelope and find out what gender it is all together.

This is for a couple reasons

a) its a special moment we want to share with family.

b) we don't want to have "big ticket items" that my family is more likely to grab, be gender oriented and would like to have some clothes that aren't pink (if its a girl)

c) still gives those who want to buy gender oriented clothes 3 months to do it if they REALLY want to

d) gender is literally the last thing we care about

2nd one will be mid January for friends near by.

(both of our showers are going to also be all gender friendly and planning some fun games; more like epic baby shower parties is the hope for ours, one with family and the other with our military family)

One will probably be in early January (just under 8 weejs before due date,) and I'm going to push for the other to be no later than mid january (6 weeks before due date.) I'm going to be freaking out any closer than that! Plus, how would that leave you time to buy the random stuff that people didn't give you?

Wow I honestly have no idea. My mom had always wanted to be the one to throw me a baby shower, however, my stepdad is ill and she has a lot on her plate taking care of him. I don't want to bring it up to her cause of all that she is dealing with in taking care of him & I don't want her to feel obligated or overwhelmed trying to do everything. I am an only child so no siblings that can do it. I only have 1 semi-close female friend and she is in the process of planning her wedding which is in May and also is in another wedding. My MIL & SIL could potentially do it I guess but I haven't mentioned it to them & I'm not very close to them either so I'm not sure if I would want them to do it. Guess I can't do it myself can I? LOL

Mine is the Saturday after Thanksgiving (11/30). I live in SC and all of my family is in NJ so when we drive home for the holiday, we are just going to do it then. I don't want to drive 10 hours to NJ in Jan or Feb in case there is bad weather.... Plus I will probably need to pee 60 times during the car ride! lol
I know it seems super early to have it then, but it also worked out with my vacation time for work.

Omg I've thought about it, but really have no idea.. It's my first baby and all I know is I'm excited to have one!!!
Don't want to have it after the holidays after everyone is broke lol...but I think it's a bit early.. Is there a rule as to when to have it???

FYI. I have 2 other family members also due in jan and February, I'm due march 2nd, but most likely to give birth during Feb... So have to see when they're having their baby showers...

I'm having mine in November because my mom is hosting it in Indianapolis and doc says not to fly after 6 months. I find out on Oct. 14th what I'm having.

My boss wants to give me a work shower but at her house & she wants it to be Christmas themed so that one is set for the early part of December. Then my sister is giving me one & she's shooting for late January early February.

Things have changed and if you look around on the net it is perfectly acceptable to do it yourself.

A few years back since I already have two kids having a baby shower with this one would be frowned upon and still may be by some people, But I never had a baby shower with my other two, and this is my SO's first baby so we said the heck with it we are going to do it.
