"I'll never..." FAILS

What are some things that you said you wouldn't do when it came to your kid that you've already broken?

Mine was "I'm not going to give him kid junk food" - So far I have given him macaroni and cheese, as well as those kids cheddar crackers and baby mum mums or whatever they are called.

Depends on what kind. Like Kraft is pretty full of junk. I don't say this with judgement, because it's a favorite in our house.

  • Meh. My kid has had Stouffer's and KFC mac & cheese. When it's the only thing they'll eat at that moment, you do what you have to.

My only baby-related "I'll never..." was bedsharing while he was still a baby, and I've kept that.
  • All ds will eat with any substance is Kraft Mac & cheese :( I've tried Annie's organic just to keep it somewhat healthy but it was a no go. He picks out the noodles that aren't kraft. He's crazy and I wats say at least he loves fruit and will eat all kinds if puréed veggies ( still not reg veggies).

My never was being a mom who never left her child for overnight stays with my dh. I think I could do it but the leading up to leaving him would be awful. I cried thinking about it when dh brought up a weekend getaway. I want to go but I will miss my baby.
  • 1. I wasn't going to feed DS Junk food.
    2. I wouldn't bedshare
    3. I was sure DS would be sleeping through the night by 4 months, lol
    4. I was going to cook nutritious meals every night
    5. DS would have a strict daily schedule

I could go on forever.  Parenting is one of those "you have no idea what's its like until you have a baby". Everyone has this vision of what parenting is and then your cute little newborn ruins that :)

I said I would never CIO. I still can't. I let SO deal with it.

I was never going to be the parent whose with their child 24/7. I had plans for daily breaks. Daily is apparently 4 times a year!

Pretty much this. I was going to find time for mani/pedis, working out, girls nights, you name it. Yeah right!

Right there with you both! And I was going to have date nights! Ha!! But honestly, I just want to take her with us all the time. She's so fun!

I do pretty well sticking to the no junk food rule. She has bites of things here and there. I do make her Mac and cheese from scratch and she loves it.

  • That I wouldnt give into whining or temper tantrums.  I know not to, it is so easy with other people's kids, but sometimes when we are trying to eat dinner and he is whining in his high chair and I just want to enjoy my dinner and a glass of wine I feel like I dont care.  Hence the night he had a big bowl of corn and peas for dinner, because it kept him quiet for 20 minutes.

  • I thought I wouldn't keep toys in the living room. Well, that was a ton of malarkey. However what we have out is semi contained because I can't stand clutter and I'm determined to not lose any parts to games or puzzles. The area is due for another purge though.

I said I wouldn't be a human pacifier nursing DS. Well, I was for the first year of his life and I don't give two shits. I like it and he likes it (so take that, mother-in-law).

Like pp's, I thought I would leave him overnight with grandparents or leave him with DH all the time...that doesn't happen. I COULD do it, I just don't and it seems easier not to deal with the whole rigmarole of it.
