I have a potty for my 18 months old. I have to hide it from her because she wants to push it around like a car. She has zero interest in sitting on it.
Uh, at 10 months it is the parent doing all the work. Dd is 2 and just staring to show interest.
The parent just has the baby sitting on it at different periods during the day. I guess getting the baby accustomed to it. I think it is a bit too early.

Yeah I am thinking I would start trying to potty train a little after the baby begins walking. At least to let the baby get familiar with it.
We started at 8mo and yes it was us doing all the work. When we saw that he was about to poop we would put him on the potty and he would go. Almost immediately he stopped pooping when we were out of the yest. Yes, it was work but since then I have maybe changed 30 poopy diapers so way less work in the long run. He's almost 2.5, he consistently tells us when he has to poop, will now go on his own, is dry at (and has been since 2yo with few accidents) and is starting to tell us when he has to pee. He holds it until we bring him to the potty 99% of the time.
When I see posts about people changing poopy diapers at three I"m really happy we started early. I"ll be doing the same with the baby.
That's amazing! I think it helps to start early so they can be familiar with it. Start a system early because it's hard to break habits once the child starts getting older.
I think at 10 months it's called Elimination Communication or something.
My kid will be three in one week and he's getting it. But he's lazy. He'll poop in the potty (and let me know when he has to go, yay!), but he really "doesn't have time" to pee in the potty.
Weirdo kid.
Do whatever you think is best for you and your family. That's the best advice I ever received as a new mama.
