Tossing and turning

Lately at night when DS sleeps he tosses and turns and whines . When the whines turn to cries I usually bring him in bed with me but it's really not helping . I'm not sure if this is because he's so close to crawling or maybe has more teeth coming in but last night we are literally up all night ( in not even exaggerating I slept 10-1045 and 4-5). Any suggestions ? Should I change something ?

Re: Tossing and turning

  • How long does your LO cry for? I learned over time with DS that if I went in and then fiddled with him he would wake up more and then get SUPER upset. He will occasionally whine/cry at night for literally one minute and then be out like a light. The contrast made DH crack up the other night when it happened. So maybe you're waking him up more?

I have no idea! I can only speak from my experience and DS has almost always been a "leave me alone so I can sleep Woman!" type of baby!

  • AND turns out he has an ear infection! He was running a fever of 101 so i took him to the dr and sure enough....I guess thats what was causing the sleepless nights. Poor baby!
  • Oh no! Glad you figured it out though. Hope LO feels better soon!
  • Poor little man! Hope he gets better soon!

I did just want to add, though, that Rhys will kind of flail about and squawk for about a minute when he transitions between sleep cycles.  It's just normal for him.  Then he goes right back to sleep.
good to note. once hes all better i will watch for that, and maybe give more time before i run back in there to shove the paci in his mouth!

This exactly. For a few weeks now, DS has been waking up between 2 and 3. He was just dinosaur calling and flopping around. At first I would go in and try to soothe him. But when I went in, he all of a sudden was all giggles and ready to party. Until I left. Then it was a mess. One night I waited out the dino yells for twenty minutes, and he just suddenly stopped and was back asleep. I realized then he is probably not even fully awake when he stirs like that in the MOTN. But he got there quick when I went in there. So now unless the calling turns to full on cries, I let him find his way back to sleep. Even on nights when he doesn't, and I try to pull him into our bed, he calms down then wants to play. He fully views his crib as his sleep place, and Dad and I are pretty much sources of food or fun lol.
