Sending LO to daycare naked

Can I do this?
It's so hard getting her dressed in the morning. Today, we had the struggle between my legs, which she won, and then proceeded to try to run away with her pants half on, face planted, and then cried and screamed. It then took about two minutes for me to manage to put her shirt, but she was wriggling like a worm, hit my jaw with her head, and I bit my tongue and it hurt like a b****. And then there were the socks and shoes, and the screaming baby who didn't want socks, and the mother debating whether to cry or lock herself in the washroom and scream in a pillow. That was in spite of a much needed ten minute "break" between the diaper change and the getting dressed.

  • That sounds like our mornings.  I have found that breaking the process up and giving her distractions help.  I always do her diaper first and take her PJs off.  She runs around/plays with a toy for a few minutes until I put her shirt on. I give her a few minutes before I put on the pants and then another break before her socks and shoes. She wakes up early 6-6:30 am and we don't have to be out the door until 7:30 so I don't have to rush the process.

  • I've discovered that she will stop all fussiness for the Isty Bitsy Spider, but this really just happened in the last couple days. Maybe try singing to her? We do have the fights as well, but I think it helps when I convince her it's her idea to be getting dressed.

Even a minor event in the life of a child is an event of that child's world and thus a world event.

Singing to her helps, most of the time. It wasn't helping this morning though, but I was probably too tired and not conveying enough enthusiasm for her to be entertained. I'll try giving her a toy next time we go to war over a pair of pants. Thanks ladies!

I will put my kid to bed in at least a shirt that he can wear to daycare the next day. At least it's a smidge bit less work the next day. But half the time it still needs changed because he spits up (reflux) or gets his breakfast all over it.

ETA: Whoops...I was lurking an forgot where I was. LOL Hi, from A12.

  • Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and that blasted Hot Dog Dance keep Bryson from doing the no pants dance in the morning.  It works for now, so I'll dance like Donald Duck as long as I have to.

  • For some reason DD is so much easier to change in the mornings.  I guess she is still a little groggy.  As the day goes on, it's sooo frustrating to change her.  It works best if we have a two person team...one person to distract her or pin her down and the other to change her diaper as quickly as possible.

When I am on my own...I give her something to play with that she hasn't seen before.  I just grab a hair brush or whatever and she thinks it is fascinating.  Also, I give her my iPod touch sometimes...I have some baby apps...but really any app on there is interesting to her.

  • The title of this made me laugh.

TheBoy gets E ready for daycare in the morning.   Last week I went to pick her up one day and she was just in her diaper and a top.    I asked him if he sent her without pants and his answer was "Yes.  I didn't have time for pants."
