Pelvic pain- general achines

I searched and can't really find anything recent about this or exactly what I'm taking about. I'll be 18 weeks on thursday and the last few days if I'm up walking around I just feel very achey in my pelvic and groin areas, also on my sides and lower back but it's mostly in my pelvic area. I know the baby goes through a growth spurt between 16 and 20 weeks, but I've mostly been reading about round ligament pain and it doesn't sound exactly like what I'm feeling. Anyone else experiencing this or know what I'm talking about? Thanks

  • Are you having any sciatica pain? Might be rotated ligaments. You can stretch them out on an exercise ball, or get a referral from your doctor for physical therapy. I went to my first appointment tonight and got exercises to do and a suggestion to get a belt to stabilize those ligaments.

I feel like a billboard bc it is brought up often in posts I feel, but check out symphosis pubic disorder, spd. I had it at the end of my first bit chalked it up to normal pains, then with my second, it hit about 25ish weeks. I couldn't put pants on without sitting down, my public bone would pop when I laid on my side and if I slipped or any movement I couldn't brace for, it hurt so bad. It took about 3 months following delivery to feel normal again.

  • I've never had sciatica pain before that I know of but if feels sometimes like I might be. I'm glad you pointed out stretching because I often feel like I need to bend around and stretch. How does the belt work?
  • @Kbalas1018 the one the physical therapist had me try on went just under my hip bone and you tighten in from the back so it's not putting pressure on your belly. I believe it just stabilizes the ligament so it doesn't twist which causes that pain. Also pay attention and avoid putting your weight on one side while sitting or standing, it causes your hips to misalign. I definitely recommend you get a referral for PT. The therapist I saw today was great and checked to see if it was a roasted ligament issue or nerve issue.

  • @brushesnbrunch thanks for your input! I will have to look into all of that :)
  • I was having a lot of muscle soreness in my pelvis and I suspected it was from sleeping on my side. I bought a snoogle to keep my hips better aligned while I sleep and haven't had issues since.
  • I've been having severe SI joint issues and some SPD starting. I had it late in my last pregnancy and went to a chiro, but the relief was always short lived due to the very physical nature if my job. I'm really concerned that it's starting this early this time :( I'm planning to call my midwife if it's not better by Friday.

I've been trying to sleep on my side more too and I wake up often being uncomfortable so that may be why I'm experiencing it so much too.

I'm on my feet all day at work too and that's when I notice it the most. I wouldn't say my job is super physical but I rarely sit. Lately I've been having to sit every so often to relieve some of the pressure. Only being about 18 weeks I know it's only going to become stronger. I'm dreading holidays when we work even more hours
  • I'm on my feet all day too. Every once in a while, I will get a very short sharp pain not necessarily in my lower belly but kind it my public area. But it's so fast. My feet and my legs swell horribly from standing all day. I'm also slightly overweight, so that doesn't help at all. I'm just trying to suck it up and do my work, because I know that the worst is yet to come. Today I'm 16 weeks.
