Everyone from work wants to go get some frozen yogurt from one of those self serve places...not sure if I should partake due to listeria concerns. Thoughts??
huh thats a new one on me. I went the other day with my hubby. Sooo good. There was a bit of yogurt hanging out of the machine since it is so thick, but I just squeezed out a bit so that it fell and had the cold nice stuff from in the machine.
At this point it seems that if I avoided every possible listeria source, I couldn't eat healthy at all.
I didn't know we are not suppose to have soft served ice cream! I just had some the other day from McDonald's. Why is this and how big of a deal is it? I love soft served ice cream.
All the national chains clean and disinfect their machines on a daily basis in order to stay within code. I wouldn't worry about listeria from Fro Yo places or McDonalds.
However, I don't know if I would have a cone from a random Mr. Softie truck on the other hand. Who knows how often those are cleaned.

Omg is nothing safe here? Geez. My dr said no raw fish meat or eggs. That's it! I'm sticking to that. Can't live a life of fear of some remote bacteria.
My NP advised against it if it wasn't a reputable place since it's hard to know how long ago they cleaned the machines. I haven't had any yet but my nieces and nephews are coming to visit next week and I know they'll want to hit up the local fro yo place. Still debating whether I'll take the risk. I tend to be over-the-top cautious when it comes to things like this but I'm trying not to be ridiculous.
Once baby is here, ALL THE CHAMPAGNE will be mine.
I discovered froyo when I was pregnant with my DS and I probably ate it like 4 times a week. I craved really cold food/drinks with him. He turned out fine.
I don't avoid soft serve during pregnancy. I practically lived on Braum's twist yogurt cones for an entire month when I was pregnant with DS in the miserable Texas summer of 2011. I also enjoyed raw cookie dough, homemade ice cream, medium-rare steak, diet soda, coffee, bagged salad greens, and cold lunch meat.
My husband works for a company that manufactures and sells industrial appliances and cleaning chemicals, which means he also works closely with health inspectors. If you eat out frequently, believe me when I say that froyo should be the very least of your worries.

My sister avoided it but she also avoided all caffeine & felt bad taking zantac her doc prescribed. So when I had it with my pregnancy my mom gave me crap... like others said you're more likely to get listeria from a salad than a properly ran froyo place
OMG...I have never heard this and am going to pretend I didn't. My hubby and I eat froyo at least once a week! I also got hooked on it during my last pregnancy.
