Any Plus Size Girls Out There?

Re: Any Plus Size Girls Out There?

  • I'm going to check in here too. I'm 5'7 and about a size 16, a couple of years ago I got down to a size 14 almost 12, but then I met my husband and the settling into a relationship, happy eating took back over so I put all that weight back on. I was trying to start eating healthier before I found out I was pregnant but wasn't doing very good at it, and now with the ms I'm just eating what I think sounds good because so little does, and I've already put on about 6 pounds as well and I don't know if it's just bloat or there to stay. A friend of mine lost 20 pounds while pregnant and then another 30 from breast feeding after her baby was born, so I'm hoping I can follow her example, but I definitely need to start eating healther, for me and the baby.
Man, you and me both! Everyone keeps telling me not to stress the weight gain because of breast feeding, but I'm not sure!

Same here! With my luck I'd gain weight from breast feeding

  • I was a size 10 going into my last pregnancy and still didn't look pregnant until about 20 weeks.  I think that's average for most sizes for a first pregnancy.  I'm a size 14 now -- Dear lord, is that considered plus size these days?

Regardless, you will look beautiful with your bump whenever it decides to show up!!!

I'm so glad everyone likes this thread! Maybe we should do a weekly check in?? It makes me feel so much better knowing im not the only one out there! This is also something i think about daily (how being plus size will affect my pregnancy) Has anyone gained weight so far? I've gained 6 lbs I pretty much let myself go the moment I found out I was pregnant. I had been dieting for years and was eager to eat whatever... Now I just feel guilty! I thought maybe I'd get morning sickness and lose weight but that hasn't happened yet! I need to get back to exercising but Im just so exhausted! How are you girls doing with weight and exercise?

    Hi ladies,

Did you ever start a weekly thread?  I would like to join and think a weekly thread is a great idea.  Pre-pregnancy I am a size 22/24 at lane Bryant.  I can't find any maternity clothes/stores where I can find clothes or a bra that will fit.  Will I have to stick to plus-size clothes?

I wear about a 22/24 from Lane Bryant as well. Motherhood has a great plus size line. The 2X is a good place to start I think. I can fit in a 1X now with a little room to grow, but I ordered some 2X stuff for later. Old Navy also has some plus size maternity you can order online, but of course nothing in store. Our motherhood stores here do have a small selection of the plus sizes in store as well.

  • ajsweeton!  I think I will have to order online.  Nothing on my trip out to the stores today. I bought a couple sweater that might grow w/ me.

That is fantastic and exciting news @linds2417!  I look for the thread on Monday ;-)

  • I am 5'4" and 206....I actually lost 50 lbs via diet and exercise. My nutritionist and OB told me at my last nutrition consult that the weight loss would make me more fertile. Well what do you know but I was already pregnant at that visit....I am still trying to count calories and stick to around 1500-1800 per day (as advised by my nutritionist and OB.) It has been difficult though as the only way to ward off the nausea seems to be to eat. I am trying to do 5-6 small meals a day and this seems to help. The worst part for me is that the healthy foods I have been using as go tos the last few months while losing weight do not appeal to me at all anymore. I am hoping this passes. I have also been too exhausted to work out. I am thinking about taking a nap at my desk as I type this....I am super bloated and feel like I look months pregnant already. I am also doing the weekly pictures and WOW....the bloat definitely increased from week 7 to 8. I hope it gets better and we all settle into these new changes.

  • I'm about 5'5 and wear a size 14-16 depending on the brand! Last year I started running, Zumba and watching what I ate! I'm a FTM and we tried for almost 2 years to get pregnant! My goal is to keep exercising and eating healthy! I do need a good bra and sports bra and tips? Thanks ladies we should totally do weekly check ins !
  • I am 5'6 my first pregnancy I started at 263 delivered at 275 started showing around 20-22 weeks had no complications due to my size.
  • Hi ladies - I'm glad I'm not alone! I'm 5'6" and about 230 lbs.  I wear a size 16 - 18 (depending on the brand).  This is the heaviest I have been, and have been about this weight since last December. I exercise (curves circuit & walking) but my weight hasn't budged! I may lose a lb or 2 then in a couple weeks they are back on!  I usually eat pretty healthy, although the last couple days that's been hard - all I want is greasy/fatty food.  Trying to be better.  I'm a FTM & my weight has always been at the back of my mind.  I just want to eat & exercise right so baby & I can have a healthy pregnancy.

I am the same way! I take forever to lose but gain very quickly.  I actually went to the doctor and had my metabolism tested.. they said it was very slow compared to the average person.  Before I got pregnant I lost 15 lbs w/ my drs help but since we started trying I already put back on 10 lbs :-(  I'm wondering if there are nutritionist who specialize pregnancy nutrition.  I'm guessing there are and perhaps I will make an appointment with one.  I read at my weight/bmi that I should gain no more than 10-15 lbs.  I want to be healthy.  Right now I'm focusing on eating healthy foods but have gained 4 lbs since I became pregnant.
