What about when you are in a restaurant? Do you get up and go to the bathroom to nurse or do you do it at your table??

I don't BF, but I would never go to the bathroom to nurse.

I would never nurse my baby in a bathroom. BFing is not like pooping, there is no reason you can't do it discreetly in public.

I nurse my baby wherever she needs it. I have walked around nursing and shopping in the mall at the same time. I am discreet and no one ever sees my breast.

I carry a bottle when we go out or when I know we will be out for awhile. I haven't gotten the hang of not flashing the world.

I would love to know how you pull that magic show off Iris!! I can barely BF without my special breastfriend pillow!! LOL!

I wouldn't feed in a bathroom unless it was somehow seriously my only option or there was a place for it set up in there. I would rather carry a bottle or go to my car.

wow, now I feel like sh*t!
I've always nursed my babies in the bathroom...and YES, it DOES suck!! Its so very uncomfortable and sometimes it smells like butt...

I just thought that was what other moms did. I have never seen a mom b/f in a restruant before and I guess I thought thats where they did it. I will definatley be bringing my nursing cover from now on and do it at the table...

I feed her at the table. If I know I'm going to be out for a while, I'll wear a nursing top to make it easier. I bring a lightweight muslin blanket with me for extra cover. The only time I will go to the bathroom to feed her is at places that have a separate sitting area with chairs or couches (not usually at restaurants, but some department stores and hotels have them). As long as I'm quick getting her to latch on, no one is going to see anything unless they are staring at me, in which case they are being the rude ones!

I'm not comfortable BF in public, I usually either pump and bring a bottle with, or I'll find someplace discreet--fitting room, my car, etc.

It doesn't bother me at all that other women choose to BF in public, it's just not for me at this point in time. Now...if I was on an airplane, I think I'd be ok at my seat...in a restaurant, there are too many wandering eyes for me!

I am way to uncomfortable to BF in public. It's just me. I don't mind others doing it, just not for me. I go to the car and sit on the floor in the backseat so I'm sure that I'm not seen! I guess I'm with the bathroom BF'ers. I would go to the restroom if I needed to and could not get to the car. I always pack a bottle and use the car warmer. If we stay out longer than I hoped or when we are driving 10 hours to visit family, I use the car floor.

i've done it right at the table and in the waiting area of a restaurant. i usually have a blanket or my nursing cover.

I will breastfeed just about anywhere - just haven't done it on the plane yet!

Like one of the pp's said, I will only in the bathroom if it's a nice place where they have couches and a sitting area (only because it's more comfortable for me in there)

I used to be car feeder, but I've got the hang of doing it at the table now. woo hoo!

oh, and for the poster with the 2 week old, the proficiency level that Iris comes with a little more experience. i basically needed to be topless and surrounded by pillows to feed DD at 2 weeks old. You'll get there.

WE can't nurse descritely yet, so depending where i'm going i'll bring a bottle or at the mall we go to a department store with a bathroom nursing area. Once we can discretely nurse i plan on doing so.

i agree with the pp - i would never go to a bathroom to feed her. i feed her just about anywhere. i'm discrete and have a hooter hider so it's no biggie. IMO if ppl are uncomfortable they don't have to watch.

I nurse at the table with a hooter hider. I wouldn't eat my own food in a bathroom, why would i feed my kid there? Not mention it would mean sitting on a toilet.....I think not.

Oh yes! At 2 weeks, I needed at least one other person's help to get her latched on at all. Forget about discreet nursing in public!

As for nursing in public now, you can't beat the ease of a nursing bra and a scarf
