What are your thoughts on same sex marriage? Do you think same sex couples should be allowed to marry? Do you think same sex couples should have equal rights? I really enjoy doing these hot topic issues with you ladies.
Personally, I think same sex couples should be allowed to marry and have equal rights - as they now do here in New Zealand. same sex couple is no different from any other couple.

Yes to all. I think that despite people's religious beliefs, the LAW should treat all people equally, including equal rights and equal benefits to same-sex couples. The churches can do whatever they want as far as who they will or will not perform ceremonies for, but the government shouldn't discriminate against anyone.
One of my brothers is gay, I have several family members and friends who are as well. I don't see why they should be treated any differently. So yea, like pp said, love is love.
I'm sorry, why are you asking this again? This is obviously a highly controversial issue. And your question doesn't have anything to do with same-sex couples AND raising babies...
It makes me happy to see an overwhelming majority feel same sex couples should have equal rights. Same sex couples are now legally allowed to get married in mn and it makes me very proud to live here!

I was just going to say this...I'm proud to live in a state that allows same sex couples to get married. Finally. I'm glad to see there are so many like-minded people on this issue here on this board.

I'm glad to live in Washington state where it is legal. They can get married...and should be able to. This summer, my husbands sister married her wife. It was a beautiful wedding. I just wish that gay marriage laws in Washington state were EXACTLY the same as a straight couples marriage. They get the paper, it's legally binding...but they can't get their spouses benefits through their work, insurance, anything. If I can be on my husbands insurance, our he could be on mine, they should have that option, too.
I actually met my first divorced gay couples. And I said "congratulations now you're really catching up with straight folks" Marriage means different things to different people. Love, religion, tradition, financial reasons. Live and let live. People get really worked up about gay couples raising kids. Probably the same heat that single/divorced women got 40-50 years ago. People just need time to get used to modern families.
Yes, same sex couple should be allowed to get married. I can't find a single thing wrong with having more love and happiness in the world. I am also very happy to say that my Christian church recently welcomed a boy scout troop that was kicked out of another local church because of the the Boy Scouts new stand on welcoming gay youth.

No one should be denied love. I love my DH so much that everything in me wanted to marry him. That's how our society is. Marriage should just be a basic right.
ETA: also, I think the only difference we will see is an economic boost from all the weddings.

Yes, we're all pregnant here but we don't have to talk about baby's 24/7, we have a very long time to discuss our children. I asked the question cause it's fun to get people talking and hearing opinions.
This topic drives me crazy! The LGBT community is comprised of human beings. I still can't fathom some people think they should have certain rights and others shouldn't. EQUALITY FOR ALL!
I'm ok with not saying that we have to talk babies 24/7, but bringing up a topic for the sake if "lays see if things heat up" is unnecessary... Plus this is a topic where "you aren't allowed to disagree ". That's all I'm saying...
But discuss away if that's what you all want to do!
This was a hot topic on a FFFC or UO board once. One person said she was against it and she was ripped apart.
Uh...good.
Oh yes. Her.
I started that one... I believe my UO (not on this board, hooray!) was that I strongly believe those who are adamantly against gay marriage are nothing but bigots. There is not one, single argument against marriage equality that doesn't boil down to "your sexual feelings for members of the same sex make me uncomfortable and therefore I don't believe you should have equal rights." Basically, if its not for you personally or your place of worship isnt behind it, fine -- but the legal right to marry should be available to everyone. Period.
And then Sister Crazy started spouting off super well-articulated (sarcasm font) rationale for banning gay marriage such as JESUS and BECAUSE MY DADDY SAID SO.
So awesome to see all if these Yes's! Sign me up for a yes too - I love living in Ann Arbor with such a strong LGBT community as well. Hell, 100 years ago people in my family couldn't marry legally (I am multiracial for generations back) and I don't see how this is any different. I hope that in the future people are looking back and thinking how ridiculous it is that this was ever even a question.
I'm so very happy with all of these posts (well I could do without one). I moved to a small town in NC from DC and I've already felt so out of place due to the blatant bigotry. Unfortunately there are still many people who live in an age of hate and intolerance.

Everyone has there own opinion There allowed to state that. Now weather or not you will get backlashed for it is a different story. I'm not posting this to get things heated up. I really do enjoy knowing peoples thoughts on things like this. I've posted other topic over the past few days as well. I love to know what people think.
All your post get me in trouble. But I strongly agree in equal rights. Love is love regardless of color or sex.
I'm sorry Hun I don't mean to get any trouble started
Are you going to answer the question?
Yes ma'am I will. I've never had a problem with gay marriage or gay people. I'm really big on equal rights for everybody. No matter race, gender, or sexual orientation. I believe it doesn't matter who you are or where you come from or who you love. You deserve the same rights as any other human. But I live in Texas... Let's just say this tends to be a close minded state
Sooo happy to see all of these amazing supporters!!!! When I was in high school a girl on my cheer leading squad committed suicide in the 10th grade. It turns out that she was homosexual and was so scared that she wouldn't be accepted by her friends and family and society in general she thought she was better off gone. Since there was some concern about being off baby topic, ill bring in a little. My baby no matter what his or her sexual orientation will grow up knowing that I love him/her no matter what! And I pray that he/she will grow up to have compassion for all human beings (and animals too). I also pray that he/she will grow up in a time when a 15 year old girl doesn't think she doesn't even deserve to live because she loves another girl!!! Off soap box
