Pregnant after 35

Anyone have pain in their hands?

So I have a drs appt this afternoon and going to ask my OB, but thought I would ask here as well. I am a FTM, 30 wks, and 38 YO. Every morning when I wake up my hands hurt. They are super stiff and I can barely make a fist. Takes most of the day to get netter, but I noticed last night in yoga it hurt to put alot of pressure on them (like in downward dog).  My family has a history of arthritis so maybe this and some swelling in the joints? Although I have some swelling in my hands and feet  - starting the past couple of weeks - it really hasn't been that bad except after flying for business trips. Is this normal?

  • Pregnancy induced carpal tunnel. I ha with my DD too. Ask about seeing a neurologist and being fitted for splints. Good luck!

  • Thanks for the info, I was afraid that was it! Will talk to my OB in the next hr about it. Not that I'd wish this on anyone, but nice to know it isn't just me. :)
  • I get it too now. Started about 37 weeks for me though fortunately. Good luck!

  • Thanks for the feedback ladies! Talked to my OB yesterday and it is just water retention, even though I am not having tons of swelling. She said to cut down on salt and processed foods and then soaking in cold water might help some but just part of pregnancy. Going to start swimming too as she said that if the pool is cool it might help as well.
