Kawaii issue

DS wears a lot of p&ns. They're awesome, even as small as he is (6.5w, 12ish lbs).

I also have a few of the bamboo ones (bamboo baby? I don't remember the name, but the other NB pockets). I CONSTANTLY have issues with him being wet in them!! It seems like pee wicks out like crazy (even around the aplix!), and they leak like crazy. Sometimes the PUL even feels damp, but that could be in my head. And I definitely change him more often when he's wearing them, bc I'm scared of him ruining clothes (for example, I just changed him after less than an hour, and his clothes were damp! Argh! He was in a p&n over night ALL last night, and his pjs were totally dry this am.)

What am I doing wrong? I thought I prepped them correctly, but something is obviously wrong. I'm THISCLOSE to tossing them.

Are the inserts soaked? You might need more absorbancy. Get some hemp doublers.or bamboo. It should solve your problems.

They're not!! I mean, they're wet, but not soaked (like the p&ns are after over night). It happens regardless of whether I use one or two inserts, too.

People recommend sealing the PUL in the dryer if it seems to be leaking.  I think it is 20 minutes on high that is recommended.  I've never tried this, though, since I haven't had this problem.

I've been drying them already... Is that a no no? Ugh. I have no idea what I'm doing here, clearly. lol At least I'm learning on the cheaper dipes in my stash!

I dry mine on low most of the time, but they are still damp when they come out.  Do you dry yours on medium or high?  Drying them on higher temps consistently will wear them out faster.  But, if you haven't been drying on high and the PUL seems to be leaking a hot dry should help that.  Have you checked if the PUL is delaminating inside the diaper?

I had both the P&N and Little Green Baby Bamboo (which are the ones I think you are talking about) and I much preferred the P&Ns.

Thanks, @littkek !! DS and I have been OOT, so I'm using a different dryer - I think it's probably been on high, but I'll have to check. They're usually totally dry when I take them out. I've been meaning to get a drying rack for at home though.

I think I'm just going to leave these as emergency dipes and take then out of the regular rotation. It's too annoying.

Ok. They may be repelling. What detergent are you using? Liquid detergent is typically a no no for cd. Also only dry on low. Or hang dry.

I've only been using Charlie's. And I haven't had any issues with any other dipes, just these!! And I'm almost certain it's been happening (to one degree or another) since day 1.

I'm going to change my dry routine for sure.

Are there gaps at all at the waist or legs? Our LGBs gapped until 3 months, so I didn't start using then until then, or they would leak.

I'll rarely see a gap at the legs, but there's definitely not one at the waist. However, the tabs/aplix are consistently wet/damp. I don't understand that at all.

I like those dipes the least in my stash of Kawaiis which is all we use. Those are my last resort for dipes.

I guess I'm relieved to know I'm not the only one who doesn't like them! But ugh. What a waste of money.

They shouldn't be repelling, they're bamboo

If they're not repelling, any suggestions or thoughts about what might be wrong/I can do differently? He's only been in them a month or less.

I hate to say it, but sometimes, diapers just suck.  I have a few pockets I bought that she seems to leak through (not gaps, not wicking, just straight through the PUL every time.)  They are now swim dipes.

Bad batch of PUL? Did you buy them from kawaii directly? Especially if it's been an issue since you got them. Alvas have a one-year warranty on defects in PUL, idk about kawaii, but I would contact them.

The PUL looks good to me, but honestly what do I know?! lol

I bought them before DS was born... So I doubt they're within a warranty. :-( That's really good to know for the future, though.
