Anyone else still having small amounts of caffeine? I had my first PSL of the season last week and it's so rainy and stormy here this morning that I'm considered going to Starbucks again. Does this make me a bad person??
I have been drinking way more coffee this pregnancy than last time. Sometimes I have pangs of guilt about it, but I'm also way more exhausted this time around -- like I don't know how I'm going to function some days. My OB said 1 small cup of coffee per day is absolutely fine so I just keep reminding myself of that.
I have always been a big caffiene drinker. My doctor actually told me not to completely cut out caffiene because it could cause more problems going through withdrawal.
I don't think that having a little bit here and there is a bad thing.
No go for it. The suggested limit is 200mg of caffeine a day. I know you can look up the amount of caffeine for cokes (41mg for 12oz). I am sure you can find the PSL amount online.
ETA: I have coke/ dr pepper everyday maybe 2 or I get terrible headaches.
Yep, I still have coffee and pop once in a while. Not regularly, but there's nothing wrong with indulging! I think you can have up to 200mg of caffeine a day, so you're good.
I cut caffeine the first couple of weeks and I was getting brutal migraines and throwing up more from the migraines themselves than M/S. I have had caffeine everyday since. I don't drink as much as I did before I was pregnant but I do drink it. I will admit with DS1 I drank maybe 3 cups of caffeine a week. Now that I have DS1 to tend to, I feel like I need more.
NBD I did really well at avoiding caffeine for most of my pregnancy but as the third trimester started to roll in, and being pregnant became more tiring than ever, I caved. Now I drink a single cup of flavoured coffee from my Keurig most mornings (they have a pumpkin spice one too! hehe) and I'm ok with that. Caffeine in moderation is fine, especially this far along.
Yes, drinking caffeine makes you a horrible person and mother to be. Seriously though, I drink a cup of coffee every morning. Small amounts of caffeine are fine.
I've heard anywhere from 200-300mg per day is fine. I just try to stay under 200mg. I believe a Grande PSL has about 150mg in it. When I get one, I usually get half-caff to make myself feel better about it. I think you're fine. Go indulge!

I have a cup of coffee every single day. Sometimes a soda too! I do my best to keep under 200mg - but have gone up to 300mg on rare occasion. It is fine
I drink coffee and/or a soda everyday. I've had no issues cutting out my raw sushi, but caffeine is a whole different ballpark... Although I did cut out coffee first tri, because of all things that's what made me nauseous...
OP, I recognize your screen name, which means you hang out around here often enough to know that the majority of us drink caffeine. Just get the PSL and enjoy it.
I do hang out around this board quite a bit but honestly don't remember seeing any caffeine posts. I actually am on here more than I probably should be. Lol. Like right now for example I should be working in getting caught up on the usual Monday workload. BUT if rather be on here! I did get my PSL and I enjoyed the first half of it but now I have a killer headache Not sure if the two are related but oh well it was yummy!
There was a dramatic post last week from a D13 mom who was worried that her serious caffeine "binges" were going to cause her baby to go through withdrawl. She later clarified that these binges consisted of one PSL per day.
So apparently, by these standards, you and I might as well be smoking crack. Shittiest moms EVER!!

someone mentioned half caf's on here the other day , which i had never heard of.... I've been getting those lately at starbucks cause I do find caffeine helps when I have a headache from time to time. I'm not a huge coffee drinker anyway - i only indulge in the high calorie sweet treat coffee's like the seasonal lattes . mmmm!

Re: PSL = bad mom?
I have a hot tea every morning. If I don't I'll have a soda... So go on and have your PSL.
