At my 10 week appt, I had gained 5 lbs. if it makes you feel better, a girlfriend of mine says she always gains 10 lbs during her first tri with all her pregnancies and then her weight gain slows down and becomes normal.
Doctor told me that some people gain right away and then even out in the next two trimesters. I have lost weight so far. But I drink so much water throughout the day that I gain about four pounds each day from when I weigh myself in the morning til when I weigh at night. Obviously that isn't all water, but the next morning I'm back to the original weight every day... If that makes sense. Last pregnancy I gained five in the first trimester, but only 22 total.
This is me exactly. I'd type my own, but @Sisimama10 already said it all!

Stay off the scales, ladies! As long as you are eating what your body/baby is telling you and not gorging on junk you will be fine. We are incredible pieces of work! Don't worry about weight gain, it will even out! :P
I have no idea, I don't weigh myself. With ds I gained 40 and lost 90 by going paleo, I didn't breast feed. I'm telling the doc I don't want to know how much I'm gaining, as long as I'm eating well I don't care about numbers.
So cool! Okay, so can you answer the question all us sushi lovers have been wondering?? Do the OB's there tell you to stay away from sushi? I am guessing not, but here it seems so controversial to eat it while pregnant!
That chart made me feel great! Thanks!! I've gained between 2 and 3 and am at 13 weeks which apparently is right on. I had gained way more with ds at this point so that makes me happy. Here is hoping I don't get out of control in the second tri which is what happened last time....
I'm actually down 8lbs in 12 weeks BUT I look like I've gained like 18. Thank you progesterone gel for the bloat. Got a healthy bump goin' on too though
I've gained about 4ish pounds so far but it looks like 15!!!! I am super short but athletic build my ideal body weight is around 107-110 but at my first appt at 5 weeks I was 114. I have stayed about 114-115 ever since I am going to say that's a four pound gain if I really started at 110 but I wasn't tracking that closely before I found out. I'm praying that I can get back to working out and eating healthy in the second trimester! Any other petite moms out there?
I have gained 10lbs at week 10 and haven't stood on a scale since I am now 12 weeks ! I refuse to watch my weight go up anymore. It just depresses me! With my first I didn't gain anything till the second half of my pregnancy . And if anything I have ate better and been more active with this pregnancy. But still I gain... Pregnant bodies do what they have to do to have a healthy baby. So there is no reason for me to be miserable about it.
I've only gained 1.5 lbs, but I think it's because I was over weight to start, I've been eating better, and I've finally lost the bloat that was making me look 6 months pregnant. I know it's superficial because numbers shouldn't matter but I have fingers crossed that I will stay under 200lbs even if it's 199.9lbs the day I give birth:p

I am little too. 5'4" 115
I'm jealous of your 4 inches!!! 5 foot here! Good to know there's some other little mom as out here!
I haven't gained anything yet. I've been eating pretty much my normal diet (which is carb heavy to begin with, I'm Italian you can't deny me my pasta) and haven't exercised at all but I am a disaster about going to the gym normally too, so no real change there.
I guess those fabled extra 300 calories for baby are actually for baby so far.
I am 13 weeks and have gained 3 pounds. I am very surprised I haven't gained more than that...I have been eating a bunch of crap because that's the only thing I want. I really have to start watching what i'm eating now though lol
I am 13.5 weeks and ive lost 15lbs Yep. Lost all of this weight due to lots and lots of puking, horrible indigestion, but ive also changed my diet and have been eating healthier.
I had lost about 7 lbs due to nausea. I still don't feel normal, but I do feel a little better and have some good days thrown in there. So now I'm at a total of -4 lbs.
I was up 6lbs, went down to 5, then this week lost three. Cut some carbs (I used to rarely eat them unless it came from fruit) but had eating almost all carbs while nauseous. Slowly going back to my old "diet" of whole foods, so weight gain should be more natural now and not food-related

I have lost weight which actually worries me more than if i were gaining weight because i have been eating normal (sometimes even really bad) and no morning sickness. my doctor told me not to worry unless its a large amount quickly. i have only lost 4 lbs so its not too much but i just find that weird.
1.5 to 2 lbs. It's hard to tell since I eat very little with all my food aversions and lack of appetite.
Don't worry about it. There's not much you can do about weight gain in pregnancy. You can limit desserts and not good for you things, but that just makes me cranky.

I've also gained about 10. It was the same for me with DS. I gained a fair amount in 1st tri, then completely leveled off for like a month during 2nd tri (no gain between appts) and gained 35 total overall. Breastfeeding took all of it off starting about 3 mo post partum (I was scared there for a little while before it started falling off like crazy), plus an additional 10 lbs that I wasn't really in need of losing, though I was pretty stoked about it. Hoping for about the same this time.
One kind of "goal" I had was to not have gained more than whatever week I was in. So I'm 13 wks now and have gained 10 lbs, and that's OK with me.
Ugh I have gained between 5 and 7 at 10 weeks 2 days. Last pregnancy I didn't gain anything until about 20 weeks due to feeling so sick all the time. This time I have figured out that as long as I keep eating small snacks every 2 hours and don't let myself actually get hungry then I will not feel too sick. I also was working out 5 days a a week and haven't been able to (doctors orders/high risk issues) for the past few weeks. I just got the ok to at least start walking again this week.
This does make me feel better. I've always struggled with my weight. Just couldnt believe how drastic the jump was in a few weeks. I had stayed at only +2 lbs for the first 10 weeks and now in week 13 it went up by another 8.
So for those experienced moms, you are saying thst i shouldnt feel sick if i dont eat little snacks every 1.5 - 2 hours in the 2nd tri? That would be amazing and would probably really help level off the weight. That and excersise.
Pregnancy is REALLY not the time to stress about your weight!! Try to eat healthy, don't go crazy with the eating for two thing, and get some exercise. We're all going to be as big as a house in a few months anyway!
Mama to a little girl born July 2011 and a little boy born April 2014!
I gained more than I would have liked in my first tri also. I really couldn't help it though, and my starting weight was a weight that I had to carefully maintain by always watching what I ate and exercising every single day. Once I hit about week 6 I could not eat anything but bread and carbs, water made me sick so instead I drank Powerade, Ginger Ale, etc., which added even more calories. I had to eat every 1.5-2 hours to not get completely sick. I don't like how much I have gained but at the same time I feel like I could not really have done anything else considering how miserable I felt.
Now I am back to exercising a little and craving fruits and vegetables instead of bread and pasta, so I am hoping the gain will slow down. I get occasional cravings for chocolate and ice cream but try to ignore them!
Not pregnant me is a VERY stable weight- I have a 3lb range that I can't break out of if I try. I'm up 1lb now, but still in my normal 3lb range.
with dd I gained 40, and was back in a bikini 3w post pardum, back in my jeans by 3 months. Put a few lbs back on when BFing slowed down and that got me back where I started from.
I have a friend who has horrid morning sickness & can only keep down bagels 1st tri- she has gained 60lbs with each of her three pregnancies and drops it all in 4 mos.
so long as you don't use pregnancy as an excuse to eat everything you can see, you'll be fine.
Re: OMG! I've gained 10 pounds already! How much have you gained so far?
