Ty is classic second born, so we have all the toys for his development level, but one thing we will be getting him is a ball pit!! A plastic swimming pool filled with balls. Total cost is like $15 and kids love it! Once they can sit up/crawl it's a fan favorite.
Although I have been eyeing that FP crawl around car...
We found a marble run that is for 6m plus plastic balls and large plastic tubs on clearnce from FP. Going to get a set of balls to turn the pnp into a ball pit and might dd a pool too since my target has them for a few dollars right now. I keep finding amazing deals on 12m or higher toys and have been stashibg them. Christmas will be just big enough for fun and pictures.
Luke is the second born so our house is already filled with toys. As a matter of fact I'm planning on getting rid of a lot of toys and buying educational wood toys because I'm tired of cleaning toys all day long. I will probably just buy Luke some books and clothes.
I've already started XD So far we have gotten her some hand puppets, clothes and a pull up toy. I think we'll also do a ball pit and some books and leave it at that she'll still be really young so no need for tons of stuff
I've been wanting to start Christmas shopping but I don't know where my LO will be developed mentally so it's hard to come up with things. I do want to get him an exersaucer but that might be before Christmas
I've also been making a wish list on amazon that I can share when the time is right. So far it has a number of handmade wooden montessori-esque toys that I've found on etsy. I always blank on gift ideas when it comes to actual holidays, so I have to do this for myself at the very least.
I want to get her one of those small infant sized armchairs. Pjs are a family tradition and a toy box is a good idea!
pj's are a tradition here too. That's what they always open on Christmas Eve is a new set of pajamas to wear to bed.
I think a toy box is a great idea...We will def. need one for out in the living room. I was planning on getting one anyway- but Christmas is a good excuse for one. Maybe I will fill it with some toys.
I'm just keeping an eye out for a nice outfit to take pictures with the family. Maybe when she's older I'll go more consumerism but for now I'm just meh!
Is anybody else not planning on buying their baby a christmas gift? I'm not sure of what he'll need and the grandparents and aunts will most likely take care of him. The beauty of a June baby is every 6 months you have a reason to get gifts! Lucky him!!
I haven't planned anything but I do want her to have a small rocking horse and toy box. I'm sure mil will get her tonssss of clothes. and she needs more books because she loves them. The ball pit idea is super fun... I may have to do that...

It's my nephews 1 year bday soon. That's not too soon for a ball pit? That sounds awesome!
@achae not at all! My neighbor had one and at about 6 months when DS1 could sit up we put him in and he would lose his shit with excitement. He still does and he's 2.5!!

Me too. Not getting her any gifts. We may travel too so I don't want to lug more than necessary.
I have a wish list made on Target already. It's already got more than 40 things on it. Clearly I need to calm down. She's not even going to remember this Christmas and according to what everyone is telling me, they spend more time being fascinated with the wrapping paper than anything else.

My big gift will be the FP laugh and learn home. I bought this for my nephews a few years ago and they loved it. I really like toys you can grow into! I also want to get him books, maybe some blocks and a special Santa that we can take out every year.
DS1 got his doll for his first Christmas so we will follow suit with DS2. DS1 got a SnuggleBug and DS2 will be getting a Peanut. Manhattan Toys makes great little dolls.
I went a little overboard with DS1's first Christmas but it was all great. He got his convertible car seat that he is still in RF at 3.5 and a wool sleep sack that he could still fit in but he uses blankets now.
Each of the boys will get 4 gifts: something you want, something to wear, something to read, and something to share.
We haven't set the budget yet but likely will spend less than 50 total.

+1. And she's so young now that I don't see the point of getting a bunch of stuff for her. Not judging anyone else here, but for us it would feel way too materialistic to ask for a bunch of toys or clothes when she has no need. And I hate clutter, so I wouldn't want to stash them for 6 months til she'd be able to use them.
We do 3 gifts for each kid (since that's what Jesus got). So she will probably get an outfit, a book, and maybe an exersaucer or some kind of toy. I went all out DS' first Christmas (before I instituted the 3 gift rule) and it was pretty much pointless. He was 10 months, but couldn't care less. I don't think he started to understand the whole presents thing until he was 3, he definitely got it by 4.

We did this for Aiden for his first Christmas. Tip: When they get too big for the pool or you're just sick of picking up all those balls, put them in the Pack N Play ENCLOSED BALL PIT!
Eh, we're Jewish. I'm certainly not getting her 8 gifts for the 8 nights of Chanukah! We will probably get some small things like a Chanukah board book or small toys. I'm mainly relying on the grandparent gifts that I know will come!

@willman2585. I'm totally stealing your ballpit idea.
We plan on putting money in the college fund. I know it's boring, but at 6 months she won't know better and everyone else will be getting her presents.
That is a great idea. I already set one up but I like this as a christmas Present too!!!
A specific baby einstein DVD (that was a hit with M but is now scratched up and useless), his convertible car seat (Graco MySize 70) and space saver high chair. He'll get a teddy bear from build a bear with a recording of DH and I telling him 'Merry first Christmas, we love you" since M got one for her 1st Christmas. We all get a special ornament each Christmas too so he'll get that. There is also a FP Stack and Roll Choo Choo that I really like that, and some simple things like those big beads that snap together, some new stacking cups, and then clothes he will need as fillers. Maybe some board books too.
We have wish lists on Elfster for each of the kids.
Proud babywearing, breastfeeding, vaccinating SAHM of 2U2!
