Cost of clothes

I just bought my ds his fall/winter clothes for the season. It includes shirts, sweaters, sweat shirts, Oxford shirts, jeans, dress pants, coats, snow pants. It costed about $200. I still have to buy him shoes, hat, and gloves. Just curious...how much do you spend on clothes for the season for your LO?

Well for this fall/winter I have spent $100 I think. I got her a 2 sweatshirts, 4 tunics, 6 long sleeve ts, 2 dresses, one pair of jeans, 4 pairs of leggings, 1 pair of cords, 4 jackets (thansk craigslist!!), 1 pair of winter boots and 1 pair of knock off uggs. I have tennis shoes for her from now until forever it seems like so I don't count those. She still needs mittens. Christmas and her birthday will supplement whatever she ends up needing midwinter.

probably about $100. We just got her a winter coat and boots and halloween costume at the consignment store. We dropped about $80 there last night and got 2 big bags of clothes.

About $150. I used to shop a lot of consignment and spend less than $100 for really great stuff when he was a baby but past about 12-18 months the clothes just look really worn, even the nicer brands. I'm lucky that most days it doesn't get too cold and I doesn't snow here. So 1 fleece jacket and 1 heaver one is all I need for winter gear

I am thankful that we are still receiving lots of hand me downs. I have probably spent $20 on a couple of more shirts and pair of shoes. We still do everything second hand

I know what you mean. I don't buy consignment near as much as I use too. I mainly look at the target, macy's, and old navy clearance racks. I just bought her 2 long sleeved tshirts last weekend at Kohl's for $4. I had a $10 coupon. I hope I get another coupon because I saw some pants she needs.

This is the first year I've really kept track. For both kids so far I'm up to $550. This includes a new winter coat for dd and almost everything they need for fall and winter. I still have to get ds another pair of shoes. My mom also bought them each a good amount of clothes. It's crazy how it all adds up so fast! And with one of each you can't hand anything down which sucks.

I spend about $1,000 in a year for both kids combined so that would be about $250 each in the Spring/Summer, another $250 each in the Fall/Winter.

Both my kids can still wear clothes from Carter's so I can get things for 60% off PLUS I earn a $10 GC for every $50 I spend. I also hit up Old Navy and Gap Kids when they have their big 40% off sales and Piperlime for shoes when they have 50% in late August. I get all their PJs from the Hannah Andersson catelog... they are really expensive but are the best, in my opinion.

Just a few weeks ago I spent only $102 for Nolan's fall/winter wardrobe and I got:
* 3 pairs fleece-lined athletic pants
* 2 pairs fleece-lined play pants
* 2 pairs cotton cargo pants
* 1 pair jeans
* 1 pair denim overalls
* 1 pair corduroy pants
* 6 long-sleeve tshirts
* 2 button up shirts
* 4 short-sleeve tshirts
* 3pk short sleeve white onesies
* 1 sweater/cardigan
* 1 cotton athletic hoodie
* 1 vest
* 2, 6pk socks

Then I took the $20 rewards and got 4 more pairs of play pants that had been moved to clearance.

We don't get ice or snow and rarely do temps drop below 55 degrees so, at this age, he doesn't even need a coat.

He needs a new pair of Tsukihoski tennis shoes (about $42) and new PJs (another $100) so, that will eat up the rest of his budget.

I don't even want to think about it and honestly haven't kept track. I don't buy it all at the same time. I have bought several things at different times. DD still needs some tights/leggings and a pair of jeans. They both need some PJs also.

Around $200 a year for both kids (not including shoes). I go to a big consignment sale twice a year (its actually tomorrow) and load up their wardrobes. I usually don't go too overboard since the kids get a ton of clothes for Christmas/their birthdays.

I buy my kids a lot of clothes, probably more than they need. I don't really keep track of how much I spend, but I know that so far I've spent well over $500. I still have a lot more I need to get, especially for DS.

I buy new and try to find sales. I just started and gave spent about $150 on dd but only got a few things. 2 jeans. 3 pants, 2 ls tops, 2 sweatshirts some socks. I have lots left to buy.

Around $50 bucks. I shop end of season sales (last year) and often buy thngs at consignment stores. He has 5 pairs of jeans (Gap, Old navy and Children's place), about 10 LS tees, 5 or 6 button-up shirts, boots, a winter jacket and a snow bib (though it rarely snows here, I always buy one ahead of time just in case we get lucky

I don't really keep track, because I don't buy for an entire season at once. My mom buys the kids tons of clothes for birthdays/Christmas and whenever she sees good sales. I store it when she buys up a size, then I go through those clothes and see what the kids are missing.

I just spent $160 at a consignment sale for my son and that should be just about everything he needs until next summer. Jammies, snowsuit, boots. And we still have some toys saved from the last sale to give as gifts for Christmas (I bought some toys that he just wasn't ready for yet). He's 3 so he still needs a new wardrobe every time the seasons change. Wouldn't it be great to do that as an adult?

I am embarrassed to put how much I've spent. I love shopping and coordinating shoes and accessories with her clothes. We do not have family that gives us hand me downs, nor do we our parents purchase clothes for us. I normally shop at Gymboree, Hanna, Old Navy, and a local boutique for special items. I am in awe of how one can spend under a $100 for the season. One pair of shoes is at least $30 and a coat on clearance is at least $25, add in socks, undies, 7-10 outfits, gloves, hats, boots, pajamas, and so on.

Not a whole lot so far this year, maybe around $300 for all 3 kids. Their school switched to uniforms so I spent around $200 on them total, much cheaper than if I'd had to buy regular clothes. They have brand new winter jackets/snow pants that were bought last year on sale. They don't need any other clothing, they have tons. I got 3 boxes of clothes for DS2 for $80, he has more than enough to last until next summer.

I don't keep track but way more than the norm here. I also buy DD tons of those beloved smocked clothes.

Luckily DS has two slighty older boy cousins that send us their hand me downs. They are in amazing (like never worn) condition and nice brands like crew cuts. So I just have to fill in here and there with him.

I definitely spend more on them than myself. I know have a kid clothes problem!

One thing that needs to be pointed out is at the age our kids are, at least the girls, you can get multiples seasons out of clothes. Or at least you can for my daughter. She's not a fast growers. She's 9 and just in a 7/8. She wore 4/5/6 for three seasons. I hadn't bought a new coat, rain or otherwise, since she was in K until last year and that's just bc it looked horrible. She wouldn't have really needed a new one until her growth spurt this summer. So when I buy a pair of Joe's Jeans, I don't feel bad bc she can wear them for at least a year or more and then I can sell them for $20 around here. Oh and she looks REALLY cute in cute clothes...I'm not gonna lie, I play Barbie with her a little bit.

I don't keep track at all. I honestly have no idea but I do know that is more than what most of these people are spending. Hell, I spent $100 at Gymboree the other day for 3 outfits for DD.

We also have a consignment store that gets a lot of name brand stuff and sells tops for $1-2 and pants for $2-3. I wonder all the time how the owner turns a profit selling that low.

I don't. If I knew, I'm sure it would be horrifying to most people who posted in this thread. I spend at least $50 per pair of shoes, alone, and I bought DS#1 an obscene amount of clothing for kindergarten. My only saving grace is that my sister gives me the cutest jackets when my nephew outgrows them, and they never look at all worn. She also hands down all the ski clothes, so I don't have to buy those (that shit's expensive).

Yes, and in my case, as soon as DS#1 outgrows something, DS#2 is about ready for it.

We buy everything we need at JBF (consignment sale.) We get a lot of hand me downs, but the season I bought all the clothes, coats, hats, etc, I spent around $80-$100. I also buy most the Christmas and birthday stuff there too. It saves so much money!

DS doesn't seem to grow very fast. This summer he wore all of last summer's shorts, swim suit and most of the shirts too. I spent about $50 on a few new shirts and a pair of sandals. It's getting cold now somImjust pulled out his pants and all but 2 pairs still fit great. He'll just need shirts, rain boots, a hoodie and a warmer jacket. Come spring he'll likely need a whole new wardrobe but so far every year we've gotten 2 seasons out of each wardrobe.

This is the first year I've really had to buy more than a couple pants for DD1 since she was a baby. I get tons of hand me downs. Lately though the style my BFF buys for her kid is just NMS and she has started buying clearance at Walmart, so I'mnot as into the hand me downs. I have no problem with Walmart clothes, but they don't hold up from kid to kid. I like to shop throughout the season and have probably spent $100 so far, but I don't really keep track. Of course, it's still 90 here, so winter clothes aren't even on my radar yet. I probably need to get in gear. I appreciate the hand me downs, but it has been pretty fun shopping for DD.

Also, I live in lower Alabama so we don't have a real season shift and when it does happen it isn't for very long. There is no need for me to buy snow anything on the off chance that it does snow. He will just have to layer up and come in to defrost often (same as I did growing up)

And I have a boy and I just don't think you need as many options for a boy as you would for a girl
