Not trying to sound cheap! Any freebies?

Just wondering if anyone knows of any baby/new mom freebies or deals that they can pass on to the rest of us. I posted about insurances covering breast pumps and I got the journal someone posted this morning. I did order clearance pampers on target.com. Other then that I've got nothing! Not trying to seem cheap, but these babies are going to get expensive! Why not get some freebies?! Thanks!

  • If you plan to use formula you can sign up on all the makers gerber, similac, etc and they will send you out trial cans you can do it with a couple different emails and you will get coupons with them. Cosignment stores are a great place to get clothes at reasonable prices since they will outgrow them so quickly in the beginning. I'd suggest cloth diapering to save a bit of cash they are really easy to use and although they cost more up front in the long run way cheaper. Making your own baby food is another way to pinch pennies and you can make sure you get top quality ingrediants to make the food.

  • Thanks guys! Definitely making own baby food for health reasons not so much the money, but saving money is always good:) looking forward to registry freebies, too.
  • Another thing that might help but isnt a direct freebie if you dont cloth diaper is the VIB card through toys r us if you load it before buying diapers and formula they will add 10% of whatever you add to the card as well so you get a bit more money.

  • That's a good one! Didn't know they did that. I also saw a post where someone mentioned making a babies r us registry by nov 15th and while things are bought they can reward you with up to $200 in a giftcard after the baby is born. I need to check the details.
  • This isn't entirely free, but these items are available for just the cost of shipping, some have mixed reviews, so reading them might be helpful. Anyway, just wanted to put it out there :)

  • Honestly, I would go to any brand name baby site (Similac, Gerber, Enfamil, Beech Nut, Pampers, Luvs, whatever) and see if they have a loyalty program. You may not get freebies, but you may get good coupons, or other helpful tips to help you save money.

  • Also, most stores with Baby Registries give a fulfillment discount once you have reached your due date. So, even if this isn't your first, or you don't plan to have a shower, register and use the discount. And register for stuff that you would never expect someone to buy you (like regular household cleaning supplies), because if it's on your registry, it's likely to be eligible for the discount.

  • I live in New York and on October 6th there is expecting mom/ new baby expo. They are giving away a ton of free stuff but also raffling off big ticket items like cribs etc.

  • @rpmf1102 I live in south jersey so I can just hop on the train. Luckily, my mom will know by then and I could drag her with me. Otherwise, that would be a heck of a surprise when we got there. Lol thanks! Lots of good tips from everyone. Thanks again
  • No problem... It's $5 per person to register and a free brunch from via cord if you register for that too

  • See if there is a freecycle (www.freecycle.com) group in your area.  People are always giving away baby things that are gently used - like infant bathtubs, toys, etc.  Also, I would check out if there are any big consignment sales (or small shops) in your area.  In the DC metro area we have the wee sale (https://wee-sale.com/) several times a year which is pretty fantastic.  You could also keeo an eye out for items posted on craigslist.

  • The big city mom's baby shower was awesome. So much free stuff that came in handy at the most opportune time. Plus I won the uppababy vista $500+ stroller that was totally awesome. Admission is not free but absolutely worth it. I plan on going to the spring one this time.
  • You can find really good deals online at babysteals.com
  • BabiesOnline.com has a free stuff section. They sign you up for free samples from tons of places, I just signed up the other day and I've already gotten all kinds of samples and coupons. Pampers, Similac, a parenting magazine, etc.

  • So I'm running into an issue with "free" stuff then the company wants to charge $13 for shipping. A car seat cover for example is light and I think $13 is too much. I did get a free bottle (Avent) and bunches of coupons from Motherhood! I like some of the ideas you ladies posted and will check them out tonight!
