UPDATE: Concerned Momma seeks your opinions

Hi Ladies,

Warning: Lengthy and possibly worth more than $5.99.....

For the past week, LO has been eating less and less. He was never much of a big eater to begin with (2 oz at most at a time with 16 oz of formula being half of his daily feeding, the other half at breast). His pediatrician has never seemed concerned with this amount since LO is steadily gaining weight and produces enough wet diapers and bowel movements every day. However, three days ago, I started to become concerned when he barely took to my breast, and at most took 10 oz of formula a day. Today, after sleeping over twelve hours straight (I had to wake him to try to keep him hydrated), he has consumed only 4 oz of formula, has barely took to my breast at all, and has only produced three wet diapers (one of which was dark yellow urine). 

So I just got home from the pediatric sick clinic with a diagnosis of "colic", and was instructed to keep trying to feed him as much as he'll take- the doctor on call even suggested that I try to push water if he'll take it (at most 2 oz a day), and don't worry as long as he continues to produce diapers. I don't know if I'm suffering from the paranoia of new-parentitis, or if my mother's intuition is kicking into gear, but this diagnosis isn't quite sitting right with me. Especially after the doctor noted that LO had a low-grade fever, swollen glands, and was met with the most pained, red-faced, screaming wails after having pushed on LO's abdomen. Also, LO is twelve weeks and counting, doesn't colic usually subside by now?

Have any of you ladies experienced or are experiencing anything like this? Significantly increased sleeping, sigificantly decreased appetite? Supplementing feedings with water at such a young age? Opinions on this being merely "colic"?
