Regular contractions but not in labor!

So because of High Blood Pressure and Gestational Diabetes, I go for twice weekly non stress tests. Well last night I was very sore and felt a lot of pressure in my uterus. Today I had a regularly scheduled NST and didn't say anything to the nurse about the soreness and tightness in my uterus. Sure enough though I felt the pain and the nurse said... Did you feel that? You just had a contraction. And I said oh yes I sure did. Just didn't want to say anything because I knew if it was one the monitor would pick it up. And the lightly painful contractions kept coming through all 40 minutes of the NST. But both the nurse and the doctor said it wasn't full blown active labor. Crazy! I think I am going to go put my carseat in my car today though. I am 34 weeks and would like to keep LO cooking for at least 3 more weeks!

  • I am only 31 weeks and had my first NST/BPP yesterday and I was having regular contractions for the entire 3.5 hours I was there and it continued in to the night....mine were not painful but I was dialated a bit and 40% effaced:( I know you can be dialated for a long time before labor but still scary! Best of luck to you and I pray your little one stays cooking for a while!!!

Crazy!! You really really just keep LO cooking!
  • I start my weekly NST and BPP next week. I don't feel any regular contractions but when I do they can be anywhere from really uncomfortable to slightly painful. With my DS I went into L&D triage with some cramping and spotting...I really thought nothing of it but my Dr told me to go in and I was in ptl and they gave me meds to stop it. I left that day and cooked till 39 weeks so hopefully you can cook that ling too...it's possible :)

How far along were you when you went in for pre term labor? Just curious. They aren't doing anything to slow me down. And labor isn't imminent right now. They just said (obviously) they would prefer she wait 3 more weeks!

I hope she waits 3-4 weeks then comes on her own because if she's not here they are going to induce me at 39-40 weeks and obviously I would way rather go on my own!
  • It's so weird when that happens. I didn't have gd or regular nst's last time, but I did go into the hospital for regular, rhythmic contractions once. It happened quite often (for a couple months before due date) and would last for hours. I finally went to the hospital when I'd had enough and wanted to know what was going on. Turned out they weren't productive, just very uncomfortable/painful, and DS still went full term without meds or bed rest. I hope your LO keeps cooking too!
