Bennett for a Girl

Just curious what others thought of this trend. I was told a former coworker of mine named her little girl Bennett (2nd girl named Bennett I have heard now). My son is named Bennett and I have always thought of it as masculine. I am not concerned but just wanted to make sure I was not the only one thinking this name is strange for a little girl?

Bennett is a terrible, terrible name for a girl. I like some boys' names on girls fine, but Bennett is abysmal.

OMG that is awful. I like Bennett on a boy and nobody in their right mind would assume a kid named Bennett was a girl.

Ben? Yeah, Ben is a *great* nickname for a girl. How about John, Bill, and Steve as well? WTF. Smh.

Normally I hate boys names on girls but I don't mind Bennett. The reason behind that though is because I met a little boy named Bennett, but I couldn't figure out if he was a boy or a girl for like the first 3 weeks. He had long curly hair and he was 11 so he still had a high, girly voice. So until I figured our he was a boy, I thought the name Bennett was absolutely adorable for a girl.

Bennett kind of has a soft spot in my heart. My best friend's 2 year old named Bennett passed away a few years ago after choking on a balloon while with her Dad. So I think that name is beautiful.

I don't think this can be a girls name, but then again there are more and more boy names used on girls all the time.

Please don't.
If you absolutely insist on using it for a girl because it's a family name, use it as a MN only.

I have nothing against the name itself - it's my married surname.

I agree with you - I think this is a very strange name for a girl and I don't understand the trend.

Then again, I don't really understand the trend of giving girls boys' names in general. I think women can do anything that men can do, but that doesn't mean we have to grow penises or have male names.
