Is it possible to have a gut feeling on gender?

I'm just wondering if mothers instinct is true or not.
I keep having dreams about girls and subconsciously call the peanut "she" and "her"

I'm all for either sex, but idk!

Re: Is it possible to have a gut feeling on gender?

  • I did by amount of morning sickness. I even called it dead on w twins. Kinda sick then, not completely barfy like with girls or nothing with boys. It was one of each.

  • Kind of the same as pp I've had my son and wasn't totally sick the whole time but definitely more than I am this time so I'm kinda thinking it might be a girl. The one thing I was spot on with my DS was from the beginning I knew he'd be two weeks early. Sure enough at 38 weeks 3 days he arrived.

  • I'm not as sick as I was with my daughter so I'm convinced it's a boy. I tried out the Chinese calendar and that predicted boy as well. I'm waiting for my next ultrasound to see where the placenta is located to try and predict that way too. Lol
  • It like any old wives tale imo. Some will be right and some won't. I dreamt I was having a boy until just a few weeks before she was born and then it switched. Of course I also dreamed that he was born with teeth and bit my nipple off. Not kidding.

  • I had dreams and was convinced my first was a boy. She is a girl.. haha. Yes it's possible to have a gut feeling but it's not always right..

  • My best friend waited until birth to find out. She was convinced it was a boy, but it was a girl! I also think sometimes subconsciously it may be what you want and you convince yourself. I feel I'm having a boy, but who knows. This is my first pregnancy - I know nothing! Lol

You can, and you have 50% odds of being right, which are pretty good odds.

From old wives tales I felt like #1 was a boy...wrong.

  • I had a dream that DS was a boy during the 1st tri. DH convinced himself #1 was a girl. I was right at the A/S. :))) This time I keep saying she. Maybe wishful thinking. ;)

  • Last time I really thought I was having a girl...he was all boy at the a/s!

This time I have no strong feelings either way.

  • All old wives tales are pointing to girl with me and that's my gut feeling. That means it's most likely gonna be a boy. We'll be finding out at 20 wks though, provided baby isn't hiding the goods.

  • My gut feeling last time said girl and everyone else referred to it as she and her. This time around I don't have a gut feeling but everyone around me keeps saying both he and she. Uh oh.. maybe one of each!

  • I was sure it was a boy last time and it was. This time I'm not sure, I keep referring to it as a boy. But I think that is more of a habit than guess.

  • I know a few people who said they felt like their child was one gender over the other and they were probably 50/50. I have no preference and my gut feeling depends on the day of the week at this point. We are team green though, so roughly 31 weeks to go!

I want a boy. DH wants a girl. All the wives tales say I'm having a boy. My side of the family is mostly girls. DH's family is pretty evenly split. I have no idea what I'm doing...

  • I think so!  With my son, I knew as soon as I peed on a stick that he was a boy.  I never wavered.

This time...I don't have a strong feeling either way.  So who knows?

  • I was positive DS was a girl, when they said boy (they won't tell you at the AS here, my ob had to tell me) I still didn't believe it. I had a growth scan at 34 weeks and asked the tech to please confirm he was still a he, lol. This time I have no thoughts at all!

  • I've had a gut feeling that it's a girl for about a week now. That's based on absolutely nothing, though. I haven't even been that sick. It would be easier if it was a girl since the only name we can agree on is for a girl :)

  • With my first pregnancy, I said from the very beginning that it was a girl. With this one, I think it's a boy. Both pregnancies have been the same so far, but it's just a gut feeling.

Baby BOY is due May 23, 2014!

  • I always felt my first one was a girl. I had a couple dreams about it, too! But, he ended up being a boy...and was I surprised! But, boys are awesome :)

  • I am guessing boy for baby "Spike". This is #8 and its following the pattern for boys... no sickness just a little tired. My daughters made me deathly ill and I couldnt keep anything down.

  • I think I'm having a girl just becasue my husband is dead set it's a boy LOL. We both pictured having just boys before I got prego but now that I am prego I think it's a girl but time will tell. I have already been looking at girl nurseries.

We had a gut feeling the last one was a girl, after the first u/s we thought he looked like a boy (it was at 11 weeks so too early to actually tell).  Ended up a boy.  DH was so sure it was going to be a girl.

No gut feeling on this one.

  • I "just knew" that DD was a girl. I was so convinced that the a/s was anticlimactic. :)

I was also fairly sure DS was a boy.

We are not planning on finding out early with this one, but I am getting a girl vibe.

It's possible to have a gut feeling, yes. It's also possible to be wrong.

The day I got my BFP I was convinced it was a boy. Everyday after that my gut has told me girl, until I dreamt that I went into labor in a plane with no ceiling in China. The baby was a boy and I was super pissed that no one came to China to visit.

I'm sorry. What was the original question??
    ;)

  • I've only ever imagined myself having a girl, and I've been convinced since finding out that this is a girl, but we'll see. It's my first, but the morning sickness and everything has my sister that has kids thinking it's a girl too.
