Daddy Reactions

So how did your significant other react with your grand news! I need some stories to live vicariously through until I can tell my husband when he returns from deployment Monday :-) Did you surprise him in any special way? Any ladies still keeping it a secret from SO?

  • The first time, I was sure I wasn't, so he actually broke the news to me (I made him look). This time, I also thought I wasn't, so I asked him to come in to confirm a squinter. Aside from that, he is actually a little conflicted. He isn't NOT happy, but he isn't excited yet.

  • I made him come home from work during his lunch break yesterday, haha! Just flat out told him I took some tests, then showed him one of them. I had grand plans for telling him in a creative way before it ever happened, but it was something I never could have concealed! He kept saying "this is so exciting!" over and over, we hugged, I cried. It was sweet! I bet you're excited to tell your sweetie soon!

  • The first time, we were together when we took the test. I gave him newborn jammies with my chemical pregnancy. This time our daughter had a cute onesie. He looked at me, smiled, and said, "we're excited?"

  • I made him look at the test to make sure I wasn't crazy. Lol. When it finally hit him, he yelled for me while he was in the shower to tell me some names he thought of. It was cute!

  • My husband has been wanting to try for number two for way longer than me. (He doesn't remember the newborn nights as vividly, I guess.) This time, I told him earlier in the day I thought I might be pregnant, and he went out to CVS after I was already asleep, came home, woke me up, and compelled me to pee on a stick in the middle of the night! BFP FTW :-)

  • Aww ladies! I love all your stories! Even the ones with the guys that try not to get excited right away. It shows how much they are really affected by the idea of an addition. I'm just so happy for all of us. You girls made me giggle with giddiness about when I get to tell my husband. Keep 'em coming!!! I have three more days to get through lol.

  • I didn't think I was pregnant. I got sick during my morning run, so I decided to test. I got a BFP. So I made a cute little card that said " hi Dad I can't wait to meet you in nine months, and then taped my test to it. ( I saw this on Pinterest) So when he got home I grabbed my camera and gave the card to him. It was priceless, he was so happy! Much better then his reaction with our first.. that looked more like pure fear.
  • The first time I had plans how how I'd tell him, but ended up jumping on the bed at 5 am waving a stick in his face.

The second time I laid out a Big Brother shirt for DS, grabbed the video camera, and asked DH to get him dressed. He was so grumpy because he was running late to work as it was and he was annoyed I was making him later asking him to get our son dressed. Getting the video of him looking at the shirt and slowly making the realization was priceless. haha

This is most likely our last time so we tested together to let him share in the actual finding out moment. I cheated a little and had a squinter the day before so I was pretty sure, but he looked at the squinter and told me I was crazy. She when I had him check the test the second day he was still pretty surprised.

  • I told my husband that I was going to take a test because I thought 100% it was going to be negative.  I took the test in the morning after he left for work because he leaves before I even wake up.  Much to my surprise it was positive.  I kept my mouth shut all day.  We talk through text all day long so he asked about it and I told him I didn't test.  When we got home from work, he was changing and I walked in and was like "umm I lied earlier because I wanted to tell you in person, and then I held up the stick."  He stared at it blankly , looked at me and said "omg, WE DID IT?".  Haha

  • I had three squinters before getting a clear positive this morning.  DH looked at all the squinters and said he couldn't see anything, so when I got the clear line on the FRER this morning, I woke him up and showed it to him.  He smiled and kissed me, told me he loved me, and then went back to sleep!  To be fair, he had been out at a gig until 3 am and had only gotten a couple of hours of sleep.  I totally had planned on doing something cute, but I just couldn't wait to tell and he knew I was planning on testing so he would have asked anyway (when he finally woke up around noon!).

  • My DH was groggy because he had just gotten back from out of the country and was napping, but I woke him up and gave him a congratulations card that I found. On the inside it said "you'll be great!" and I added "...as a dad! I'm pregnant!" He got a big grin on his face and gave me a huge hug.

I think that getting pregnant after infertility has made things hard. We've gotten so used to expecting disappointment, that it's really hard to be super excited. I think we are just both semi expecting the other shoe to drop. Just looking forward to the little milestones that will help set our minds at ease so that we can accept that this is really happening and be more excited. :)

  • With Wyatt were on a road trip and I got tired after 4 hours so I told H to drive, the next day same thing I got tired after 4 hours and told H to drive. I hate my H driving and I NEVER sleep when he drives so he took us to a gas station and I had no idea that he was buying a pee test while I was ordering subway. After lunch he put it in my hoody pocket real quick and said go take it lol BFP FTW!

  • We have been trying and were unsuccessful with two chemical pregnancies (latest was last month). When I got my BFP this month I ran up to him and showed him. He grabbed me and we hugged for like 5 minutes. We both felt much better about this BFP because my lines showed up right away unlike the other two times where we had to squint to see them for my chemicals. So far so good and my numbers are doubling every 36 hours!

  • We were NOT expecting ours so I went out and asked DH to come to the bathroom to see if I was crazy or not. He said he saw a second line and I started hyperventilating. Good times.

But now he is crazy excited :)

I'm not new. I just hate The Bump.

  • Mine was surprised! We both were. He at first didn't want to talk about jt at all, But we've been talking about it and we're ready to be parents.
  • I handed my SO the digital Preggo test that also read how many weeks along u were. Mine read '2-3'. My husband says 'what does that mean? That you're 2/3rds pregnant?'
  • I actually sent a text to my husband at work with a picture of the pregnancy test, lol. I couldn't wait to tell him.

He was in a bit of shock for the first while but today (about 4 days after telling him) he started to get excited and keeps kissing me and tummy and he's talking about names.

He told me he was just used to our dynamic with him, me and Ellie (ou 2 year old) but he's adjusting and slowly getting more and more excited. I can appreciate that, I was a little shocked when I saw the positive too, lol.

  • After realizing that I calculated my ovulation incorrectly, I realized that I was already 3 days late for AF..(thought originally just 1 day late, so no biggie) he's like.. get dressed.. we're going to Walgreens. He starts getting dressed, talking to himself (more like a coaches pep talk).. "let's not get overly excited, you've have those symptoms before so we can't be too sure".. but this seems to be the one... lets test tonight...

so we get back from the drugstore, I did the POAS.. he's standing there .... (i love him, we've known each other for 11 years...) he's like c'mon Mel.. are we pregnant?!!!

    I'm like ... YUP.

    He's was so happy.
