Trying to Get Pregnant

So confused!!

So my hubby and I have just started TTC this month and I ovulated about 3 weeks ago. I hace been getting a couple symptoms... So I was hopeful but yesterday went to the bathroom and was pretty sure I started my period so I was a little discouraged. But when I came home for my lunch break.. There was NO period at all... Haven't has any bleeding since... I took a test this morning but it was negative, can anyone enlighten me? Did I test too early? How long should I wait to test again?? Thanks

Re: So confused!!

  • I took an ovulation test like my doctor told me to.
  • Loading the player...
  • Thanks for the positive feedback.....
  • Any advice is great advice... Sometimes it just seems like everyone Is so negative on here.... And a lot of you guys act like us first timers are complete idiots. We are all here to get help and advice. Not to get belittled and treated like we are stupid.
  • It also seems like the same ten women sit and post replies.. Do you all just sit around all day waiting to crush someone's hopes?
  • Negative test = not pregnant. PPs have given good advice.

  • No one here was being mean, they are asking questions to get more information and give you useful advice, which they did.  You said you took "an ovulation test" - did you only take one and it happened to be positive (which would be incredibly lucky timing!) or did you get a positive and continue testing until they went negative again?  As the other ladies mentioned, even with all of that, the only way to really confirm O is to temp your BBT.  Is that something you are currently doing?

  • Of course I don't want false hope! I like hearing feedback .... I'm still new to the site so I don't really know how it all works so maybe if people would be positive and helps instead of be a total bitch... My body is really confusing. My periods are very long and so I wasn't sure I was even going to ovulate so when I got the positive reading on the OPK I was pretty excited. So when I posts for help and someone tells me that I really didn't ovulate it's pretty depressing... I don't know for sure how to take the temp stuff so a little help on that work be nice as well.
  •  I made this same mistake. I only lurked for a day and didn't read the FYI for newbs post and posted something stupid like this. I didn't get upset. I realized that when you ask silly questions, you get silly answers. So. Read up on tracking and temping. And PP's are right. You really don't know what's going on exactly unless you temp. And you also think you know your body...until you don't. GL though!

  • I didn't think this was a silly question.... And is people don't like my question they don't have to answer it... And the two people who keep posting pics to me how is that not something I can flag? That's very rude

People are being helpful, you just don't seem to want to hear it.  We were all new once too, but I took people's advice and read the newbie blog posted at the top, I looked into Fertility Friend, signed up and watched the tutorials and started to educate myself.  This is all that people are suggesting you do too.  That is positive and helpful.  And if you want help and advice, I would probably stop insulting the women trying to help you.

  • Flagging is to report something as abuse, not because you don't like it. Stop abusing it.

No one told you that you didn't ovulate, we'd have to be able to travel back in time & see inside your body to say that. What you were told is, a positive ovulation test does not always = ovulation. You could have tested positive & still not ovulated. You could have also ovulated a few days later, we can't tell you.

Temping & charting is very easy. Most of us use Fertility friend, if you click the ticker in my siggy it will take you there. The free version will give you everything you need to get started. They will send you tutorials on how do to everything. You'll be able to confirm that ovulation DID occur after getting a +OPK & then be able to truly know when you are late.

  • I once got 5 straight days of positive OPKs... You have to see the whole picture of your cycle with temping, charting, Ovulation sticks, and cervical mucas... It's the only way to know when you most likely ovulated. Most docs just tell you to have sex, but the ladies here are real believers in charting. Without a chart, we can't help you guess on these things.

Serious OP, you need to relax. You received lots of helpful advice. We don't SQUEEE or throw Baby Dust. If you're looking for someone to tell you that you must be unequivocally pregnant despite a negative test, you're in the wrong place.
  • Okay look, I get that I'm new I get that I must be a complete idiot. But I still feel like you guys are ganging up on me... All I asked is If someone could help enlighten me on the spotting question.... Because I hear that when the egg implants you can have some spotting that was my only question...

  • The thing is you guys tell me that the ovulation tests down work. What's the point of the test then?
They do work.  They detect an LH surge.  But just because you have a surge doesn't always mean you ovulate.  That's why temping is important so you can confirm that ovulation has occurred.

    We said it doesn't
confirm ovulation, only temping does.  Many of us here use both - OPKs can help you tell when you're gearing up to O to help time sex, temping confirms that you did O.  Seriously, in a not snarky way, read the newbie blog and visit Fertility Friend, it has all of the answers you are looking for.

  • I can't find the blog...
  • OPKs tell you when you're gearing up to ovulate. They don't confirm actual ovulation. They're pretty good at guessing which is why a lot of people use them but the only thing that can confirm ovulation is temping. For the love of whatever you hold holy, PLEASE GO READ THE NEWBIE BLOG AND JOIN FERTILITY FRIEND.

You GOT help, and in return called us names and acted incredibly rude. Please leave if you're going to keep up your temper tantrum.
  • After 3 weeks, a HPT should be positive. The bleeding could be anything, sorry! Keep testing and eventually you will either get a + or get AF. If you go 60 days w/o AF, see your doctor.

I don't know if you have been reading the responses to your question, but I hope you will stick around on this board. There is a clique of old posters who have been here forever and they try to scare away 90% of the new people who have questions or excitement. It's just because they are bitter that they've been here so long. There are also people who jump on that hateful bandwagon, simply because they want to fit in.

I think this board could be really awesome if a group of people were committed to making it more positive and welcoming new people who have questions. Even if those questions are abnormal or some regulars think they are silly questions. I hope you will think about staying on the board, and being a part of that movement towards positivity, even if it means you will have to put up with some haters first!
  • @justandhay I get where you are coming from with your original post. The female body can be so complicated and it is so stressful to not know what it going on. I would try to wait awhile before testing again... theres no harm in waiting as hard as it is. I'm not a person that comes on here often because I'm always afraid to get my head bitten off by saying the wrong thing. I think these boards are meant for people to support each other and sometimes we all get a little feisty because we are all trying to conceive and it is stressful. So many rules and regulations, I prefer to just google things instead but just happened to read your post. Hang in there and hoping you figure your cycle out.
  • Sheesh op I'm brand spanking new and no one has been anything but polite and well intentioned to me, even if they disagreed with something I said. The people on here are funny and real and lots of them are supportive and strong and positive despite dealing with IF. I knew nothing about temping or mid cycle spotting when I started ttc but I googled and lurked and read the thing that said "read me if you are new" and educated myself until I could play along. Nobody is owed sunshine just because we are ladeez who want pwecious babeez. It is not this board's job to educate you in the tone you prefer. So cut out the name calling and entitled judgmental nonsense.

I'm new.  I wasn't driven away.  I edumacated myself by buying "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" and signing up for Fertility Friend long before I got here.  I'm still not sure who the "old regs" are.  I don't bloody care.  I'm insanely helpful to those who are aware of themselves and their questions.  If your head is up your ass, well, Imma gonna post a gif.

EDIT: I will admit that your screen name made me chuckle, though.
I consider myself an Old Reg because I've been here for over 2 years.  TheKikiMonster, ByeGurlBye, BankerBSN, GM, Jefa, and SCSmith are also 'old regs' to name a few.
I feel like we should have badges or something. Slaps I feel like you are the most bitter out of all of us. GAWD that hatred you spew to scare all the new posters away. ;-)

You lost all remaining respect from me with this incredibly hurtful statement.  WTF did I EVER do to you????  This tells me that you have *never* dealt with or had someone close to you deal with IF.  I can only hope that you learn to consider the feelings of others as you're "trying" to preach everyone here to do one day.

Such an awful thing to say.

Yes, I've been trying for 2.5 years.  I guess that means I'm a bitter and hateful bitch.  Oh and you know what?  A lot of the snarky girls here aren't 3T.

URGH.  I hate when people say crap like this.  Seriously.  Do you not think that I'd love *nothing more* than to get to move on?!

Everything Slaps said.  @thatsslightlyraven what a horrendous thing to say.  You don't think that some of us who have been here a while wouldn't like to leave??  You think it's fun to deal with the heartache of IF?  STFU already with your intentionally hurtful and ignorant comments.
