Ours was "Always On My Mind" performed by Michael Buble . it may not seem like a typical first dance song, but we had a long distance relationship for the first few years and things got pretty rough for a while. That song was a perfect way for us to say to each other "I was young and stupid and imperfect, but I get it now."
I still feel flutters when I think of how beautiful that song is.
Our wedding song s 1,2,3,4 by the Plain White Ts ... My husband & I had broken up for a short time when he sent me an email with the lyrics saying "This is how I know I'll marry you." & it was perfect.
"Our" song is Baby Got Back - we started doing it years ago at a karaoke bar & even did it karaoke style at our wedding reception. Love.
our wedding song is brad paisley "then" but our real song is michael buble "hold on"

Our wedding song was Crazy Love by Michael Buble. WE both LOVE him !! And everytime I hear the song I cry no prego hormones needed... AND next month he is coming to Charlotte so we already bought tickets to see him seeing as he only tours the US like every 3 years !!!
very jealous of you going to see Michael Buble. My mom and sister have seen him.
Ours was "Everything" by Michael Buble. I absolutely love the song and it made me cry the first time I heard it. DH said it was too fast to dance to but I was set on it so we took some dancing lessons. Turns out, DH is a pretty good dancer :x Now I cry every time I hear it.
We have two really. Ben Folds "The Luckiest" that I walked down the aisle to and "Then" by Brad Paisley that we had our first dance to. One of the lines from that song is "I can just see you with a baby on the way" which obviously made me tear up just typing it

So our wedding song came on my shuffle on my drive home today, and being the hot mess that I am of course I started crying like a crazy person. Ours is "Steady as We Go" by Dave Matthews Band.
What is your wedding song (or just your and your SO's song for our unmarried ladies)?
Wow, I can't believe you chose Steady as We Go....I almost chose that! Since I'm a tad obsessed w/Dave....then we were going to do Waste performed by Dave and Trey, but it was a lot of work to get that live version cleaned up to hear it, so he let me have Orange Sky by Alexi Murdoch. From the time we got together I could always see us dancing our first dance to it at our wedding, and it was coming down to the wire so we chose that and it was perfect and he loved it.
And now I am filled with tears looking at this pic of us dancing to it at my desk! PIP...look what you did-there's no crying at work!! (
Haha, sorry! I'm tearing up again reading about all these songs...
There was really no question about picking Steady as We Go. We're both fans, and we were at a rough point in our relationship when the CD with it came out. We were young and I wasn't sure about forever, and then I heard the song. It really hit home and made me realize what I had, and it's been our song since then.
Yeah usually Dave fans always choose I'll Back You Up, and the newer fans choose You and Me, which both seem like cliches to me. Well, I have bad ties to I'll Back You Up and refuse to listen to it, but You and Me is just "Radio Dave" to me. I'm a huge fan, seen him 41 times, so I REALLY wanted a Dave song for our song, but MH doesn't care. He only goes to shows with me if I have no one else to go with and even then he only cares about seeing Carter. So that was my only reasoning for NOT choosing a Dave song. And we wanted to do Waste because it was both Dave and Trey and he's a huge Phish fan-which I am too, but no one compares to Dave in my book. In the end it wasn't feasible so I went with my gut and the song I always wanted. le sigh..I love the DMB so much it hurts. And it REALLY hurts to think about the fact that I will have an infant next summer and Idk what I'm going to do about the shows. I have never missed a show in my area and I kinda refuse to. :-<
We were announced to "Ghosts 'n Stuff" by Deadmau5 (it was really fun!). Our first dance was "At Last" and SUPER awkward. DH's sister was supposed to sing it so it would be short and special, but she got sick so the DJ put on the extended version for our dance. We swung around like 6th graders at our first co-ed dance for about 8 minutes. Ugggggg. lol!
The song I really consider 'our song' is "wish you were here" by Pink Floyd. We used to listen to it by the fireplace when we first lived together when we were 18, and then he would write lyrics from the song in letters to me while I was in boot camp. It is still special to both of us
Everything by Michael Buble was our first dance song. LOVE that song. I think I'll listen to it right now!
Also, I don't wanna miss a thing by Aerosmith. We are high school sweethearts and our first "date" was watching armageddon in his parents basement and this song always makes me think of him acting like he was stretching so he could hold my hand. So cheesy. So 16 year old. So adorable
Ours is Lucky by Colbie Callet and Jason Mraz. It fits our story perfectly. The lyrics are all about being lucky to be in love with your best friend and talks about long distance. My hubs was in the military and we had to wait for each other. So hard but so worth it! The first time I heard that song i started to cry bc it was just us that song will always melt my heart!
The traditional What a Wonderful World by Louis Armstrong and then we had our "true" song, which was more of our crazy style Love Me Dead by Ludo. Check out the lyrics to see out craziness.
Our song is " in your eyes " Ben Harper acoustic version . I was slightly obsessed with the Peter Gabriel of course but when I heard Ben Harper it always brought me to tears. We were long distance for 4 years and it was always gonna be this song at our wedding : )) we also broke out into a fun dance to Michael Jackson's "the way you make me feel" which we took 8 weeks of lessons for. It was really fun !

Love Ben Harper. "Beloved One" is engraved on the inside of MH's wedding ring. I'd actually consider that one of our songs as well.

I walked the aisle to "I can love you like that". But there are quite a few other songs that come on the radio and we both think they are "our songs" they include Brad Paisley's "everything" and "then", Eli Young Band "Crazy girl", and I always get emotional when I hear the song "say yes" by Dusty Drake.
Re: GTKY: Your song
We didn't have any dancing at our wedding (our choice)... but, when the groomsmen and bridesmaids came down we had our pianist play this song.
Innocence- Avril Lavigne
I told DH to listen to this song and that is how I feel about him... back when we were just dating..before we said our first "I love you"

I'm feeling truly unromantic (which I am) but especially so after the special picture post and then this one...
"My song" is the vowel song I sing every day with my students. They are so into it and it kinda gets me excited too. Lame, I know. L-)
