Sensitive mouth?

Last time I got pregnancy gingivitis in which my gums were very sore when I ate, most foods caused discomfort and I couldn't even think about anything very chewy or hard.  But the last few days, everything in my mouth has felt extremely sore and sensitive....not really the same sore as last time where pressure on my gums hurt, but this time it's like the mere presence of anything in my mouth is irritating.  My tounge, the inside of my lips and my gums were all burning during lunch.  Anyone else have this?

Re: Sensitive mouth?

  • Have you thought about switching to a sensitive toothpaste like Sensodyne or Pronamel?

  • I had this happen the other day, but, I'm pretty sure it was because I ate too much pineapple. I think the acid in it made everything tender for me

Does that help gum sensitivity?  I thought it was just for sensitive nerves.  I already use kids toothpaste because I am such a baby and can't handle super minty toothepaste, so I know the toothpaste isn't aggravating it further.

  • Do you have a dentist appointment any time soon? I don't have that but do notice more blood when I floss.

Yeah, actually I have a cleaning in a couple of weeks, so I'll definitely bring it up.

  • I noticed the same over the past few days. I started brushing and flossing more since the nausea lessened and I noticed my gums are more tender. That doesn't bother me as much as how tender the roof of my mouth is when I eat. I think like a pp mentioned it could be acid related so I'm gonna try to watch that. I hope not to develop pg gingivitis but I think over flossing and brushing can make things more tender.

It's worth a shot! Flossing also helped my gums.

  • I think I'm developing it. My gums are bleeding a lot when I floss and when I get bread or anything crunchy my mouth hurts and it is painful to get anything stuck in my teeth. I see my dentist Monday, so perfect timing. I don't know what to do, but just feeling like I need to floss and brush after every meal.

  • My gums hurt too! Feels like when I had braces as a tween & my teeth were moving around. Very annoying!
