Now she won't take a bottle. Crap.

My dd has had many bottles of pumped milk. She had them right away in the hospital because her and I both had complications after delivery and I was unable to nurse her.

Then when she was about 4 weeks old I got a nasty case of thrush and EP for 5 weeks. After that she has been EBF. My MIL has watched her probably 8ish times and never had trouble giving dd a bottle. Until now!

No one can get her to take one, not MIL, not FIL, not DH and not me.

Did any tricks like having one of your shirts with during a feeding work? Please help! I need to start work again soon and I feel like we are totally screwed. TIA!

  • :( just commiserating. None of the tricks have worked for us. I know they say to keep breastfed babies on slow flow bottle nipples, but could you just try a step up and see if it makes a difference?
I hope her bottle strike ends soon!

  • Maybe try warming up the bottle and going up to the number 2 nipple. That worked for us to get DS off of bottle strike. The one bottle a day we were giving to our LO was our least favorite time of the day. Through many different bottle tries we discovered it was the milk temperature and not the bottle. I EBF except for the one bottle a day (until daycare started last week). I was worried he'd get used to the faster flow and wouldn't take milk from me, but so far a week into 4 bottles a day at day care he doesn't seem to behave any different when I feed him at home. I'm not planning on moving past the Avent number 2 nipple though at all.
  • Thanks for the input!
