warning: mucus plug talk!

Don't worry guise, no pictures.

I just passed my mucus plug. Holy shit, that was so fucking gross. (and I never use that word lightly) I was thisclose to throwing up.

I was NOT prepared for that. I will not describe, but FTMs... be prepared! It was bigger and grosser than anything I could have imagined.

That is all. (I just want you guys to be more prepared than I was)

I totally spelled mucous wrong, didn't I?

I have been having sporadic contractions since yesterday evening. I had a cervical check yesterday though, so it could just be from that. I did a lot of walking today as well so maybe that is why they haven't gone away. I am interested to see if they keep up tonight. They woke me up a couple times last night, but like I said nothing consistent. I wasn't dilated really at all yesterday (she said maybe almost 1 cm) and still about 70% effaced, as I have been for a couple weeks.

Hey, I am just upset none of you STM really warned me about the graphic nature of this thing. So, I am just trying to do a service for us FTMs.

well good luck! Keep us updated! I'm excited about some of the "regulars" going into labor. Can't wait to see these squishy babies!

I'm not sure what the big deal is about talking about the mucous plug! It's part of the process and it's ok to talk about it. Thanks for the heads up! I've been keeping my eye out and was definitely not expecting what you described!

Yeah, I have heard others talk about it. I admit I even snuck a peek at a couple google images. It was worse than that. So, you just never know. You are a lucky one.

This is my third and I never lost my mucous plug with my other two, I feel short changed on the whole pregnancy experience now! I guess I'm now anxiously hoping I lose mine so I can speak to this disgusting milestone with experience.

Mine wasn't terribly gross, it was just obvious that's what it was and I thought "ok that must be the plug everyone talks about....now what?" I had Max 4 hours later.

Losing your MP is kinda like being slightly dilated at your first cervical check - doesn't really mean anything. MPs can grow back.

Also, you can lose it in small amounts over several weeks and not notice it.

And with DS I did not lose mine until a couple hours after my water broke and labor started. We were at the hospital getting checked in. If I hadn't turned and looked in the toilet I never would've known.

I lost most of mine much like you OP, a few weeks ago, WHILE waiting in my ob office.
Nasty as shit but since then, I have been shedding smaller amounts of it.

I don't remember thinking mine was THAT big...it was definitely not what I expected but nothing too gross...but I'm not easily grossed out.
