Need help- mastitis

I just left the doctor because I was experiencing mastitis symptoms and they gave me a 10 day supply of antibiotics. They also advised I should come down during the time I'm taking antibiotics. 10 days seems like a lot and I am afraid that can being on formula for that long may potentially affect my supply and/or his taking the breast. Can one of the lactation consultants please advise what you would recommend?

    Sorry.. I meant pump and dump.. Not come down. And I thought the same thing. He prescribed cephalaxon.

    I'm not sure about that medication, but I breastfed while on antibiotics for mastitis 3 different times.

    Sorry I'm on my phone and can't post the link but according to infant risk, that's an L1 (safest) drug. I definitely wouldn't pump and dump!

    Thank you so much! I called the pediatrician to confirm too.. I think it's time for a new dr!

    I had mastitis and was on 3 different antibiotics and breastfeed the entire time.  I did give my LO a probiotic during it.

    I'm currently dealing with mastistis and still nursing. The dr prescribed augmentin. I had a severe case and after a few days was still in pain with clogged ducts. After doing some research I decided to try lechitin and literally within 24 hours I have no clogged ducts! It's a miracle and worth buying! I'll prob continue to take this thru out bf since I've heard mastistis usually reappears once you been infected. GL! Ps- there's good information on this vitamin on kellymom!
