Gift for Midwives?

Looking for ideas for something nice for my Midwife, assistant midwife, and two apprentices.  Four gifts... oy.  So, not looking for something too expensive, but want something nice.  I will probably be up for spending more on my primary midwife.  Thoughts for her so far are massage or gift cert for nice local restaurant.  Other ideas?  Ideas for nice but less spendy gifts for the others?  Thanks, ladies!

Bottle of wine? I'm thinking in terms of what I'd like to receive, haha. ;)

  • Is a nice photo frame with a picture of your baby in it too weird? Like, too much about you? I don't know. But I love picture frames and collect them, and they aren't very pricey.

  • @krose0713
Who doesn't love wine??? Good one. Thanks :)

I actually gave my midwives a pic of DS1 after they delivered him. One of them likes it as a reminder of the first baby she successfully resuscitated :)
I'm planning on getting a pic with them and DS1 and DS2 tomorrow so I'm sure I'll give that to them too :)
  • I second the wine idea. Or champagne since it is a celebration after all! Maybe you could make a little cheesy basket with the bottle and a framed picture and maybe a hand written thank you card.

I wish I felt this way about my midwife. The only thing id like to give her after my delivery is a swift kick in the hiney! Horrible bedside manor and spoke down to me as if I annoyed her the whole time. Thankfully, my regular came in to save the day.

Boo :( Sorry you had a crappy midwife! On the bright side, you get to save the money on a gift! Go get yourself a massage and a bottle of champagne ;)

Ya know what, my birthday happens to be Tuesday and I think that's just what I'll do :) thank you!

  • For me, a massage sounds a little out of our price range.  For my midwife, we are getting her a cloth diaper for her 9 month old.  She has given us advice on them and told us her favorite all-in-ones.  For our doula, we're just getting her a small gift certificate to a cafe by her house.  She always brought treats from there to our prenatal meetings.

I think any gift, along with a thoughtful card will be fine!
  • I found these in a similar thread before and I thought they were lovely.

  • I got something small for both of my midwives: handmade soap and a bath fizzie, and we'll write a note after the delivery.  I might stick some nice tea in there, too... we'll see if they earn it at the birth ;)
