  I have the graco sound machine. it works well and has a nice variety of sounds. it plugs in.

  We have this one.   I love that it can be plugged in or batteries.  6 options with lots of flexibility for volume control.  Also it has a timer option or it can just run all night (what we do)

  Someone we know recommended a standard radio tuned to a station that isn't a station but just noise. Plus you can pick your volume and get them super cheap too

  This.  I have this in all three kids' rooms and love it!  My babysitter has it too and equally loves it.  I tried the lamb sound machine and a bear sound machine.....junk.  They weren't loud enough and the battery was always dying, or so it felt like.
