Halloween Costumes

So, finally we have decided on Halloween costumes. My daughter is going to be "Little Red Riding Hood", hubby will be the big bad wolf and I get to be..........grandma. lol

I've got my hands full.........now just waiting on all my materials to get here. Since we live in a dinky little town and our local craft store didn't have the colored tulle I needed or the pettiskirt tops.

I'm thinking maybe an elephant if I can find an easy pattern. He loves making the elephant sound. But then people may think it's a political statement since we live in DC.

DS will probably be the Portuguese soccer player Christiano Ronaldo. MIL got him the outfit to show his Portuguese pride

Or an old guy on retirement in the Keys. That means a pastel green pant and multicolored plaid shirt.

what are you guys doing with your be-costumed babies? is it just for fun? or are you going to a party? or trick or treating? or what? i'm genuinely curious.

DH keeps talking about dressing up DS for halloween, but i'm like "where are we going??" i guess i'm too much of a grump to get him all dressed up and then not leave the house.

We are handing out candy and taking her trick'r'treating.

I know a lot of people don't think it is right to take a toddler out trick or treating when they can't eat all the candy, can't say trick or treat. But I don't think she should be left out of the fun, so she is definitely going!

We will go to Boo and the Zoo and also take him trick or treating. I don't know if we will let him have his treats but he loves putting things in and out of buckets. He will like his treats for that purpose.

@Bakerbride We are also doing Zoo Boo this year at the South Bend Zoo. I am super excited because DS loves the zoo on a normal day so I am sure he is going to have a blast.

Also, we will take DS to see my parents, my grandparents, and my nana on Halloween. They all give little treats like a small dollar store toy or book instead of candy. This is what they did with my older nieces and nephew when they were younger too.

thanks for the responses! that all sounds fun. also a cute idea to take kids around to just friends and family. since both DH and i work, i don't think we can do anything on halloween night, but i guess i should look into other local activities on the weekend. DH is obsessed with the idea of dressing DS up as bruce lee in game of death (the yellow tracksuit).

Oh, and she will go with us trick-or-treating, but only because I have R. R didn't go until he was 3...before that he was just at the house "passing out candy" (not really haha) and for photos.

C will be Dorothy from wizard of oz, ago will be the lion, and DH and I will be the tin man and scarecrow. C has been trick or treating every year and we took O out last year too. He won't get to eat the treats like we didn't allow C when she was tiny. We do a group walk win the little neighbor kids earlier in the evening then head home pass out candy. C will have a parade and party at school

All awesome ideas. I'm still undecided. Either snow white, a pumpkin, or a cat. We are going to Disney the weekend after Halloween and will go to a fall festival sometime in October. Halloween night our community is all out trick or treating. A friend is bringing his tractor and trailor decked out in fall stuff so we will take the kids around. But we have lots of other kids around.

We just got DS costume today he is going to be a vampire/the costume was called count cutie. I really wanted to find a mummy since he still walks with his hands out in front, so this will have to do!
