Serious question.

How are you ladies putting on your pants? I think I need a YouTube clip on how to do so at (almost) 38 weeks pregnant, because this is like mission impossible.

Or maybe I need to hire a pant-assistant?

  • haha the struggle is real
  • All my dresses are dirty so this is a legit reason of panic.

  • I have my husband hold them while I jump off the bed into them! ;)

  • I sit on the edge of my bed and through the miracle of Lord Grilled Cheesus, manage to pull them on one leg at a time.  Sometimes i have to use my hands to physically lift my ankle up into my pant leg.  Taking them off is just as difficult.

  • I really don't know how I'm doing it. I have to change clothes 4 times a day at the least for work. So I struggle in the morning, get to work struggle getting them off then struggle putting scrubs on. And then do it all over again to go home....... It sucks! Then immediately get rid of pants as soon as I get home!
  • maternity pants are even harder to put on because they are so much smaller at the top from the elastic!  they do this on purpose, i'm sure.

Simple.. I make DH do it. Then I flail my legs and make it into a game.
Love this...I'm totally doing it to DH later!!

I am usually ok getting the first leg in, it's the other one that I almost gave up on today...but then I figured I can't go to the MD with 1/2 a pair of pants on :O

  • i sit on the ledge of my bath tub, pull one leg up as high as possible, then the other leg..then nearly fall over as i stand up and pull the rest of it up...then i pull them up at the thighs...then lift my belly, and pull it up to my waist. i'm le tired.

  • I freaking love this thread. I am literally LOLing at my desk!!

To answer the question, I sit on the edge of the bed and step into them with both legs. Then I slowly bend down and pull them up.

    I don't wear pants. Easy solution. ;)
THIS!  Dresses and skirts are my friends these days.

Though I wore leggins with a long tunic yesterday, and that required holding onto the bed, putting BOTH feet in the leg holes, and ever so carefully grabbing a handful of fabric and just yanking as hard as I could. It wasn't very graceful.

PS- socks and actual shoes? PISH!! I've only worn (dressy and super supportive) flip flops for the last 3 months...

Damn. I've been balancing on one leg and struggling through the pain like a chump! Also, compression stockings are the bane of my existence right now; very difficult to get on.

I manage to get my compression stockings on ok in the morning but pulling them off after work is a struggle. Totally worth it though.

  • I have to sit on the edge of the bed. I am so sick of walking between the closet & bed every time I want to change clothes! Socks and shoes require some assistance though. And a couple times I made the mistake of leaning back on the bed while I pulled them up- getting back up was not easy.

  • Dresses and flip flops all the way. I had to (attempt to) put on socks and sneakers the other day and started crying. My husband came in the bedroom to find me a snotty mess, with one sock half on, blowing my nose in the other one.

  • LOL omg cracking up. I only wear stretchy pants so sit to do it and pull them as far as I can. But it's cold here so my fiance has to help me get my boots on every time lol. My dad actually got mad at me for touching the wall at his house trying to balance doing it myself. He then made fun of FI for pulling them up for me
  • My life is really hard....I am a bed snob so my bed is pretty high off the ground so i can't sit on the edge. So have have to do a lean on it. it is quite the process and takes a lot of out me.
how hard is it to lauch yourself back up there after a middle of the night bathroom trip?
I am wondering the same thing!

  • I've been OK with the pants...and have been wearing flip flops up until this past weekend when my feet showed the first signs of the dreaded swelling.  So because of that and the fact that its starting to feel like fall here in MA, I decided to switch to my boots, which require long socks...and it was such a pain in the ass!  Cant do it by myself and had to enlist the hubby.

Now i've decided that I'm going back to flip flops and I dont care that people will be able to see how swollen my pretty little feet are.

I thought having a tall bed was a cool idea. Until I got pregnant and the pain getting in and out of it is so horrible! Now I was asking my DH if we could somehow lower the bed. I'm only 5'2" and it comes up to the top of my hips. I need a stool to get in and out now :(

even with your organs in your ribs? can you breathe?

  • I guess I'm super duper flexible because I haven't had too much trouble, yet.  But I do wear a lot of skirts, and now I have to do a load of laundry in the middle of the week because I don't have enough things that fit to make it through a whole week.  Or I'm just a slob and spill things all over myself every.single.day.  Also I haven't worn anything besides flip flops (or tennis shoes on the weekends) since early August.
My big boy is bounding towards 4! Baby brother coming in October!

    Hipster dog is not impressed.
  • I put them on one leg at a time while standing, usually losing my balance, which results in a near nervous breakdown because it reminds me how big and miserable I am!

Good thing I sweat my ass off 24/7 so I rarely have to bother with them..

Mine is really high too.  It took me 4 tries to get up during the 4 AM pee trip and DH wonders why the sheets are always pulled out on my side in the morning.  I hold on for dear life and pull!

We also have a really high bed. I'm so glad I don't have SPD because the way I get into bed would be excruciatingly painful. I have started to hike my left leg and left side of my body towards the center of the bed and then grab the edge of the mattress as leverage to pull my other half up and in. I really need to invest in a stepping stool, but I can't bring myself to do it.

As far as pants, I tend to find something to brace myself against and dangle the foot holes in the vicinity of the appropriate leg. I tend to live in skirts and dresses + flip flops, though. The only good thing about having a summer pregnancy in Arizona is that it will be flip flop weather until after this little guy comes in mid-October.
