DD fights falling asleep all of a sudden.

Has this happened to anyone's LO?  She has always been an awesome sleeper.  For the past 2 weeks, DD will not fall asleep, she is tired but does not want to stay in her room.  She is still in a crib, we just got the conversion piece for her bed but haven't put it on since this has happened.  I thought she was scared of something and tried to figure it out but now I do not think that's it.  What time do your LO's get up in the am and go to bed?  Any tips?

Re: DD fights falling asleep all of a sudden.

  • I wish I had some tips for you, but you are SO not alone. Lena fights sleep like it is her actual job. No matter how tired, no matter when she gets up, no matter when or if she naps, it simply doesn't matter. She will not give it up without a hell of a fight. She ends up going to bed super late (sometimes even after midnight) and then of course, sleeps late. I have tried waking her early, but it doesn't seem to help and then we are both cranky, so I just let it go for now. I honestly don't know what to tell you because I am far from figuring it out myself, BUT it does seem to come and go. Like, for a few weeks she will be okay, and then it'll start up again. So basically, I am telling myself that it is a phase lol. Though I do suspect some separation anxiety is involved, because she knows that when she gets up, Daddy won't be there, and she calls out for DH a LOT while she is fighting sleep.  I hope it gets better for you soon, especially with the new baby on the way!
  • There has been a lot of talk about this on the Toddler 24+ month board. Maybe the excitement of putting her in a big girl bes and making it a big deal would help but it might not. Maybe try some soft music and those twilight pillow pets would calm her down. DD had a high time getting back to sleep this morning after waking up to go pee so I laid down with her for a few mins and then left to get ready for work. She was still upset so I turned her music on through her monitor and she went right to sleep.
With your pregnancy, I would also suggest putting a twin mattress on her floor if you have the room. That way you can also get some rest if she needs you. We did this with DD when I was preg and it also made the transition to that bed real easy. I hope you figure it out.
