Question for plus size momma's

Hey ladies! I'm a fluffy FTM and in need of some suggestions for quality, cute (non-frumpy) plus size maternity pants.

I just received an order of GAP maternity size 18 (my pre-preg size). I ordered 2 pair, one in the Demi & one in the full band. I wasn't sure which i'd like better. So far the full band seemed to smooth me out & work better. I ordered them short too as I'm only 5'1". The length was great on them but they didn't seem to sit right on me. I had a saggy butt & crotch in them! I could pull the jean part over my belly so it was less saggy but it was uncomfortable. I'm at a loss...

Any suggestions?

Re: Question for plus size momma's

  • One of my friends is plus size and ordered her stuff from Kohls - when I get to the point where my belly band isn't cutting it, I will likely order from there too!

  • Kohls and old navy are my go tos. Motherhood has some plus size too but they can be spendy.

  • I have found the full band ones to be a little baggy right now, too.  This is probably because the bump isn't as prominent.  I am on the PS crest, being a 14 - 16 pre-pregnancy and I have found good luck at Old Navy.

  • I got some petite ones from motherhood. They are a little tight in the thighs but my thighs are always an issue with pants.
  • I had purchased some jeans from JCPenney.  They were really cute; however, they ripped in 2 different places within 5 weeks because the fabric was so thin.  I think Motherhood pants are great quality and really comfortable!  They are worth the extra money.

  • I got a few pairs of jeans at JCP and some tops from Old Navy. I have to get some winter stuff, since DS was born in July and I was still in regular clothes with him through the winter.

@holly820 Did they rip on the seam? Mine did at my NT scan. I shouldn't have been wearing them technically and i was yanking them up to hard.

  • No, they didn't rip at the seams.  The first rip was between the back pocket and the belt loop.  The second started from my inner thight and ripped across the back of my leg from seam to seam.

Which ones were these? I just ordered some from there, but they haven't arrived yet. That's what I'm afraid of happening

  • I suggest trying on at places if you can.

I just ordered from motherhood maternity, and will try and then exchange if need be. Your bodies are unpredictable when pregnant so its hard to say how clothes will fit, or should be designed for that matter in my opinion.

  • When I was pregnant with dd 3 years ago, the pants at motherhood were way more comfortable, I think. Anyone else feel the same? The full panel cover is like spandex now, where before it was like a cotton jersey feel. They also fit me worse now than they did 3 years ago.

  • I got the Liz Lang from Target and love them. They fit all my ass and thigh! Plus they don't stretch out during the day and keep their shape. Bonus!!
  • I just looked at jcpennys. They have a ton of clothes online. I have never bought from there though so I'm not sure of the fit or quality.
  • Update!

I went shopping tonight and found that the Kohl's pants were basically skinny jeans. I hate skinny jeans on myself. Translation: got me some theighs & butt going on. However, I stopped in at the Motherhood store and found paydirt! They had plus size (1x was a perfect fit for me), stretchy in the thighs, bootcut, dark wash, petite's in several styles! The holy grail for me. They had a buy 3 bottoms get the 4th free so the 4 pair at Motherhood cost just as much as the 2 pair of GAP jeans I had ordered. I was hoping to find 3 good pair total, but I'll always take a free-be! :)

Thanks everyone for the great suggestions!
