BF letdown question...

Hi ladies.
Recently when I'm nursing LO, when one side letsdown...the other one follows suit leading to multiple shirt changes a day. Is there a way to prevent this or do I need to just stuff a towel in the other side? Its annoying ...especially in public. Help.

Re: BF letdown question...

  • do you use breast pads? I never realize I'm leaking until I go to feed and the whole thing is soaked. I like the lansinoh ones.

  • I either stuff a burp cloth or wear a nursing pad and change it right after the feeding. It is annoying.

  • They make breastpads for that...

  • I wear a nursing pad but it goes straight through them and the bra. Maybe I need disposable ones? I use the washable ones.

  • Try disposable or just shove a burp rag in there at home.

  • Ive also done the lily pads but they leak out the bottom if I letdown too much.

  • Some of my friends had this same problem and when they were at home they would (forgive me i forget the details/logistics) either pump or just put the bottle up so that they could store the milk and not just lose it... I don't know how realistic this is but it seemed like a good idea to me.  My one friend would get over an oz just from the let down!

  • Pads aren't enough for me either. I put a cloth diaper or burp cloth in there.

  • I tried reusable ones and they soaked through too. I had to go back to disposable.

  • I think someone mentioned on a post from a long time ago that they cut up a regular pad and put it in their bra. I have no experience with that to know if it works though.

  • I had that problem with DS. I had to use a rag for a while.
  • Try the disposable ones like pp posters said. I used to use the washable ones and they would leak right through. It was super annoying. Now I hardly leak execpt overnight because LO only wakes up maybe once to eat.
  • Avent (I think it's the brand) makes these breast pad things that you can collect the milk.. And actually save it.. I LOVE them! https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000058DQJ
  • I started with reusable ones, I would soak threw them everytime. I'm using the Avent and also the Tommie Tippie disposable ones. They work well and hold a lot. I am hoping that once my boobs gets a bit more use to this I can switch back to reusable.
  • (When at home) Put a bowl under it and save that milk haha. Or try one of these https://www.mymilkies.com/

I do this at home. I just stick the empty bottle from the pump under the other boob. I usually get at least half an ounce, often a whole ounce. If you are soaking through, you might get a good amount.
