Re: Growth U/S...Everything is off.....IUGR?????

  • Yea none of this makes sense and I would fire your doctor. If your baby was 37 weeks or whatever (too many dates for me to remember) then you would have conceived the day you started your period. If the baby is 35 weeks by LMP, that would make sense. It could easily even be later than that and baby could be 34 weeks or so because you don't know when exactly you conceived. You already said the techs were incompetent and couldn't get proper measurements, so I wouldn't trust their judgements. I would go to a new doctor and get a separate opinion/demand the level two ultrasound if they're so sure you're 37 weeks (which you aren't if your period was actually your period unless two week cycles are normal for you).
I would but....insurance. I'm not gonna switch OBs this late, that just seems more ridiculous.

LMP started Jan 5th, and I could have conceived as early as the 13th, and as late as the 24th. I found out I was pregnant on Feb 4th (blood test, after same day home test). My cycles are about 30 days, not 28. But I had JUST began tracking them when I got pregnant, so I'm not really sure because I didn't have an established pattern.
I had a transv u/s at 5+3 due to spotting, and got to see a little heart beat, so I'm sure I'm further along than LMP. Maybe not as far as 37+4 though.

All that is kind of beside the main point here though. His measurements are sort of all over the place, and I really wanted to know if anyone else had a similar experience, and what they knew about measurements being off.
did you have NO other ultrasounds in first trimester?  this is all weird. *sniffing air suspiciously
It's either MUD or the OP's dr is an idiot. I called MUD awhile back.
No I'm being completely serious, I've complained on here about my OB before, and everyone flames me for it but noOoOoOw the bump is starting to believe me. I'm a FTM and he confuses the shit out of me every appointment.
well you are being a complete wuss about your own health. find a new DR wtf

I had no ultrasounds in first tri.  If your periods are regular, there's no cramping/spotting, no past losses, and no desire to do a NT scan, then they're optional according to ACOG guidelines.

@sisterindigo You're being crazy.  Don't whine about how TB told you your doc eas fine until now.  If you don't like your doctor, take some responsibility for your own care and switch.  If you don't insist on good care, no one else will.

  • you could still be raising hell about getting the level 2 ultrasound done ASAP, but you aren't. that has nothing to do with insurance, that's all you taking a backseat to your own (and baby's) health.

    image
  • Insurance isn't going to prevent you from having the baby. Let the new Drs. office take care of all the paperwork.

You could have switched a long time ago.

All I see are lame excuses.

  • Dr switching paperwork is NBD. I've switched providers and practices twice now. But switch soon - some docs won't take you after 37 weeks. And in case you're confused, no, you're not 37 weeks yet. Use your LMP which is what your doc should be doing.

I'm sorry, but your insurance excuse is ridiculous. I have Tricare and it can take up to a couple of days for paperwork to go through. Your primary doctor puts in a referral to a new office and everything is done and faxed to the new office in a matter of days.

You could have taken care of this months ago if you have been having all this trouble with your doctor.

In South Region your PCM doesn't do the recommendations, my husband is a corpsman, who works directly under my PCM, so i know this for a FACT. if she could do it, it would have been done weeks ago. I have to go through tricare referral line.
  • also there's only 2 doctors covered that don't deliver at the lovely medical university (the same one giving me a run around about lv2 u/s) so keeping him at this point is almost worth it just to not deliver at that horrible place.
  • you could still be raising hell about getting the level 2 ultrasound done ASAP, but you aren't. that has nothing to do with insurance, that's all you taking a backseat to your own (and baby's) health.
I've called them multiple times and gotten no where with it. The lady actually got a little short with me yesterday over the phone because I've been demanding she get off her lazy ass and check the faxes because the staff at my OBs office insisted they received confirmation from Prenatal Wellness that afternoon that they got the fax.
If I really didn't care you think I'd be just sitting on the couch hitting refresh on my facebook feed or something. its 730pm, and there's nothing left I can do for today at least, so I'm trying to get some advice from the veteran mommies of the bump that maybe I'm just over analyzing the results, and my OB is making me worry over nothing.

So yeah....look at me all not caring about the health of my baby, doing nothing and what not.
  • okay no sorry i put LMP and not LMC... haha that was my mistake. Can I make a pregnancy brain excuse here??
My last menstrual cycle was Jan 5th.
Okay... maybe pregnancy brain is getting to me too (I love using pregnancy as an excuse for being stupid) but wtf date is your LMC supposed to be in relation to your cycle? When is EDD ever calculated according to this date? As far as I can tell this LMC term is made up or being confused with LMP and it's just semantics at this point; we are referring to the same exact date!

LMP = first day of the last period you had before your BFP
    LMC = ???

It's seriously bothering my brain trying to figure this out.

This is straight from the Tricare/Humana South Region website. Your PCM takes care of all of it.

"When a TRICARE Prime beneficiary’s primary care manager (PCM) is unable to provide a specialized medical service, the PCM must contact Humana Military to request a referral. Humana Military issues a referral when a TRICARE Prime beneficiary needs specialized medical services from a civilian professional or ancillary provider only if services are not available at the military treatment facility (MTF) or at the PCM’s office. The MTF is always the primary source of care for TRICARE beneficiaries. The MTF has the “right of first refusal” to provide care for a TRICARE beneficiary.

Referral requests may be submitted online via the “MyHMHS for Providers” feature, formerly the “Online Provider Services” link. This is the fastest, most efficient way to get the information you need and keep the process moving."

BFP = Big Fat Positive. It's the day you peed on a stick and saw a plus sign/two lines/pregnant symbol. It has absolutely no effect on your EDD either...

So before we abandon can I get a summary because this literally helped unconfuse me 0% about my measurements.

    Is tech incompetent?
    Is due date wrong?
Is OB making me worry over nothing?
Is there something serious going on I don't know about?
How do I know if I have IUGR?
Is the way I'm carrying throwing everything off?
    Will I ever get a lv2 u/s??

    ...........................to be continued.

I began bleeding on the 5th of January due to menstruation. I really don't know how to clarify that any more for you guys. haha.
    Which means you:
    1. Actually ARE referring to your LMP in regards to January 5th - you corrected yourself unnecessarily when you started on the LMC thing.
    2. Are due October 12th according to LMP, making you 36w3d today if you were using that date.
    3. Very, very confused by acronyms on the Bump.
  • Okay, how about this. Let's not worry about the EDD and all the other stuff! Go to your one doctor get all the paperwork put into a lovely manila folder and walk it over to the office that needs the information! This way you don't have to worry about the whole faxing issue! It may sound like I'm being snarky, but I'm not I'm very serious! Coming from a girl that has run the ringer with different hospitals sometimes the only way to get something done is to do it yourself!  You have a right to request your own records and paperwork and hand deliver them!

This is the only solution I'm seeing to your issue. Things seem confusing and the only way you will get an answer is by a Lv II ultrasound, so make that your top priority!

My hopes are that your EDD date is off and  you are actually not as far along! All measurements make sense except for the head which is squished to low to read at the moment. They really shouldn't of given you measurements if they couldn't get the whole head on the US.

  • HOW WOULD WE KNOW IF YOUR MEASUREMENTS ARE OFF OR WHEN YOUR DUE DATE IS OR HOW COMPETENT YOUR DOCTOR IS IF YOU DON'T???? GO GET A NEW DOCTOR AND A LEVEL TWO ULTRASOUND. I WILL NOT SCHEDULE ONE FOR YOU. IF YOU REFUSE TO DO EITHER OF THOSE, WHAT DO YOU EXPECT US TO DO?

    Some actually useful advice....shock. haha.
If I don't get anywhere with it tomorrow, I will actually do that Thursday. I have a regular appointment that day, I could get the papers then and prenatal wellness is on my way home.
    Thank you.

    Is tech incompetent? Possibly.
Is due date wrong? There is actually only a week between the EDD you would have from a Jan 5 LMP and "your current EDD" in the OP
Is OB making me worry over nothing? I think you're doing this to yourself
Is there something serious going on I don't know about? There is no way of knowing this without a level II u/s, because I left my ute goggles in 1st tri
How do I know if I have IUGR? Get a level II u/s
Is the way I'm carrying throwing everything off? Chances are pretty low since they haven't been measuring your fundal height anyway
Will I ever get a lv2 u/s?? Only if you grow a pair of lady balls and get'r done.

why can't i just have my own bad reputation i don't want hers

Are you actually admitting to knowing who she is?

  • I honestly don't know who to blame here.  The OP, her OB or both.  There comes a time when you have to stop blaming everyone else around you and start taking responsibility for your lack of self advocacy.

But tbh, between the old "brother" post @dh13 linked and this one, I'm really just wondering if you tend to be a dramatic person in general and just love the attention your crazy posts that make no sense get.

If this is one of your favorite movies, I think I have my answer.

i mean, how am I supposed to react to the reactions i get. i don't get butt hurt over it I just make the best of it. might as well get some good laughs while i can and then call it a day. Everyone has fun with it, the brother post ended in hilarious moon moon memes.
  • if you actually look at the posts, I never just come off being mean to people, its usually some one else getting short with me, and me being a sarcastic jerk, turns into some flaming, everyone laughs, and the post dies.

Believe it or not, I actually do have honest intentions when I make a discussion. People are just insane on here.
