the hospital where I work we wont allow things like hair dryers, straighteners, heating pads and blakets etc... were very strict about things that plug in and those things need to be approved by maintenance (they take your items, test them for hours and return them to you 1-2 days later if not right before you leave)
I took one with my DS and used it. I'll bring it this time too. Nothing better than a shower and clean up the dat after delivery! It made me feel much better/normal.
We have a room-in policy at my hospital, I'm not bringing mine because I feel like not only would I disturb my baby, but also everyone else on the floor.
I have curly hair and I dry my hair pretty much every day, which takes about 20 min. DD was so used to hearing it in the womb, that she LOVED the sound from the moment she was born! She still loves it now.
I'm bringing mine but that's only bc my mom is a hairdresser and will dry it for me while I'm in the hospital. Otherwise, I wouldn't bring it. There's no way I'll be able to lift my arms for 20 min to dry my hair after a c/s
Nope! But I have curly hair that dries fine without one. It is on my hospitals packing list, but I just wouldn't want to deal with it. Standing up and bending over to dry my hair is just not something I want to be doing pp.
Ours has them in the room. They have professional photographers come to do photos, and we're not planning on doing others, so I might try to look presentable one day for that. I wouldn't care for any other reason.
I brought mine last time and will again this time. And (gasp!) I put on some make up. Nothing felt better after labor and delivery than a nice hot shower and cleaning myself up.
I'm bringing mine because I definitely plan on showering at some point and I hate sitting around with wet hair (its long and thick and takes forever to dry).
I had someone give me the advice of bringing things to make me feel more like myself and presentable.. her suggestion was jewelry. MAJOR side eye to that one.
DEF not deft! This gross misuse of short formism is driving me batty.
You need to read the "you might be a newb" thread. Were you not around for osmith5, our resident moon moon?
Anyways, I totes plan on bringing mine. It sleeps with me in my bed so, yeah.
<br/
Doh! Always read the whole thread! Is this fact on the newb doc?
Yes. Did it twice before and will do it again. And for those who think they won't shower trust me you're FUNKY after giving birth. I would not want to sit around for two days with all that crap all over me. The world will not end if you take 10 minutes to shower.

Deft is on purpose as it was posted by @osmith5 and she is deft spechul. I guess this fact should go on the newb doc.
@nryan55 - yes. Yes, it is.
Done.
I will not bring a hair dryer. If they have one in the room I might use it. I will see how it goes.
