I've searched and searched the internet everywhere and not really found much help or information.
First off, I'm carrying really low. I mean really, really low. At the u/s they could barely get an accurate head measurement. My pants were practically off, and she still couldn't see his whole head. I know this definitely effects weight estimates and other things.
I look really tiny too. My OB hasn't measured my fundal height at all because I'm carrying so low. I look barely 30 weeks. According to my current EDD I'm 37+4, but according to my LMP I'm about 35+6.
Of the measurements we did get of his head, that part is measuring to dates. They also measured crown to rump, femur, humerus, ect, and based off that he's measuring 33+5. That's a HUGE gap, enough for my OB to be concerned and even mention possible early induction. The blood pressure in his cord was a little high. I think she said they like it right around 48, his was 52. Which could indicate stress.
His estimated weight is only about 4lbs8oz. If he grows at a normal rate from there, he'll only be about 6 and a half at 40wks.
Vital organs all looked good though, and there was no problem with the placement of the cord in the placenta. Placenta is anterior fundal. No explanation for high pressure there. My fluids were on the lower side of normal. Each pool was about 2cm, and total I was just over 8cm.
My OB sent me to have a level II, but I can't get an
appointment before my due date. So I can't even get an answer for why
he's measuring so small. I'm just stuck not knowing if there's a serious problem or not.
My family does not normally have small babies, however with my oldest brother my mom had some complications and had to be induced at 38 weeks, he was jaundice, only weighed about 6 lbs. He didn't develop very well either. I can't help but be terrified of the same fate for my son.
Any one else had a similar experience?
Re: Growth U/S...Everything is off.....IUGR?????
All his office has done is fax over some paper work. I've tried pushing both the hospital and my Ob's office. So annoying.
Same thing happened when I went for anatomy scan to find out the gender. Once I did get through, I waited like 7 weeks for an appointment because they pushed it back twice.
they're making me feel like a crazy woman. I have another regular appointment Thursday.
6.5 at 40 weeks is a good weight. You need to get the Level II to get a more accurate measurement, and your OB shouldn't be talking induction until you do.
But, I'm really confused how your EDD surpasses your LMP date when you're so small...usually it's the other way around. Unless he was measuring big at a 12 or 20 week scan. I don't think it's considered reliable to change EDDs after then... And, if you go off your LMP date, he's within a 2 week range, again totally normal. I think your OB would be advising whether there was a serious problem or not...

My husband's blood pressure has been high since he was in high school. He just has higher blood pressure. I'm hoping its just "one of those things" but still would like to know for sure.
I heard women with longer torsos and bigger hips normally carry low, and I definitely have that body type.
I thought the only U/S that was valid for dating a pregnancy was in 1st tri?
All these docs get so worked up over these little things--BP is off by 4 points, scary! Baby's measuring a little small but normal, let's have a freak out!
I'm not saying don't get the Level II u/s, but I just wouldn't be losing sleep over this.
FTM and so confused by all this.
my hips wouldn't even think about lying.
The conspiracy theorist in me just thinks he's trying to scare me into an induction because he wants to go on vacation or something.
LMP started Jan 5th, and I could have conceived as early as the 13th, and as late as the 24th. I found out I was pregnant on Feb 4th (blood test, after same day home test). My cycles are about 30 days, not 28. But I had JUST began tracking them when I got pregnant, so I'm not really sure because I didn't have an established pattern.
I had a transv u/s at 5+3 due to spotting, and got to see a little heart beat, so I'm sure I'm further along than LMP. Maybe not as far as 37+4 though.
All that is kind of beside the main point here though. His measurements are sort of all over the place, and I really wanted to know if anyone else had a similar experience, and what they knew about measurements being off.
They were always different! I can't even recall how many times my due date changed. My OB doesn't like how my baby grows or something!
I don't remember exactly how every bone and everything measured out, but there were slight variations in everything. For example his femur could have measured X, humerus was Y, crown to rump was Z. They weren't even all within a week of each other, they were all over the place. His body was easy to see, she didn't have much trouble looking at bones and organs.
Also I feel like someone may ask about movement at some point. He's REALLY active.
My last menstrual cycle was Jan 5th.
god knows why but i just did the math, and if you normally had 30 day cycles, then you ovulated around 21ish, and your BFP was just about 2 weeks later, so you were about 4 weeks then. why would you think you ovulated SO much earlier??
No I'm being completely serious, I've complained on here about my OB before, and everyone flames me for it but noOoOoOw the bump is starting to believe me. I'm a FTM and he confuses the shit out of me every appointment.
