Gender has always referred to the Sex of a baby. Recently people have gotten it confused due to research on gender identity and gender role, these are the terms we should be using if we are going to correct someone. Only recently has gender become the short of these terms. From a very early time gender simply refers to the sex of a person, so everyone is right.
Re: Gender=Sex
Is this just a thread to "educate people" I don't get it...

I personally don't care how people say it, but the World Health Organization says the following, which says that sex is the proper term to use:
Sometimes it is hard to understand exactly what is meant by the term "gender", and how it differs from the closely related term "sex".
"Sex" refers to the biological and physiological characteristics that define men and women.
"Gender" refers to the socially constructed roles, behaviours, activities, and attributes that a given society considers appropriate for men and women.
To put it another way:
"Male" and "female" are sex categories, while "masculine" and "feminine" are gender categories.
Aspects of sex will not vary substantially between different human societies, while aspects of gender may vary greatly.
Ah it's SOO annoying, I recently posted a discussion about gender ( I was curious to know if people have taken the Maternal 21 test and ended up finding out about baby's gender that way)
This lady replied ::: "You won't know the gender of your baby for a really long time. If you want to find out the sex, however, there are blood tests that will do that."
Keep that liberal, lovey-dovey, kumbayah, bull crap to yourself and stop shoving it down everyone's throats.
I believe that if you are born a girl with girl parts, then you are a girl. If you are born a boy with boy parts, then you are a boy. And I'm NOT going to apologize for standing up for what I believe in.

It's called having morals, and sticking to what you believe in. I have a spine and I'm not going to appease other people by changing how I feel. That being said, this is America and you have a right to believe whatever you want. But I think it's pretty hypocritical to fight for the acceptance of everyone AS LONG AS they agree with you or believe what you do.

Morals? Hah.
I stand behind that last paragraph too-seems that we're a minority but that's ok.
That being said, I grew up with many days playing with boy toys and sports but I had my "dolly" days too. But I'm still a girl.
Morals?!? How does your absolutely WRONG statement have anything to do with morals? You are disgusting.
If your male child tells you at five that's he's a girl and cries at night because he doesn't understand why he is "wrong" you're going to tell him he is immoral? Are you going to refuse to change his name and call him a her when at 15 it's all he wants? Well that makes you a horrible person. And a disgusting excuse for a parent.
*sigh* Tuesdays around the bump seem to bring out the crazy in people. We've been full of crazy today.
Agreed.
