I'd nix Maeve for a MN for a boy. Ailill is OK, I prefer something like Alistair, Desmond, Delaney, or Sean. Lorcan is OK, I prefer Cormac.
I like Saoirse, but be prepared to spell/pronounce it for people. Other Irish girl names I like are Aoife (Gaelic version of Eve), Brenna (meaning dark haired), Ailish, Bridget, Niamh, Iona, Mairead, Roisin, and Orla
I like Maeve for a girl, not for a boy. And lorcan reminds me of Lycan, which is a type of moss and the wolves on Underworld.. So that one does not get my vote..

Have a look at behindthename.com or explore the SSA list beyond 1000 in MJ's siggy. And please pronounce Maeve correctly. Even Medh is pronouced Mayv (rhymes with cave).
Aillil means elf in Gaelic, not beauty. He was Queen Maeve's husband, or nephew, depending on which version of mythology you go by.
I also like Laoise (Lee-sha). I wish Americans were more cultured, then we wouldn't problems with naming our children as much as we do.
I just spit my drink laughing at this. Please, maybe pp should go look at you other bump post to see how you tricked your bf of 5 months into getting you pregnant. That's pretty cultured. You just go right ahead picking your "cultured" names.
I like uncommon names that have a family or cultural significance. But I also tried to think of names for my baby that kids wouldn't be able to twist into something mean on the playground.
"Lorcan Dork-an" could be something that kids would taunt. It also reminds me of the word 'ork' which is too fantasy for me.
I never had any friends or anyone that made fun of other kid's names while growing up. They usually just made fun of what they looked like or how they dressed. Lmao

Lurking from S13. Only commenting because I can't stand it anymore.
Yes - because "just" making fun of people for how they dressed or looked is SOOOOOO much better and less ridiculous than making fun of someone for their name. BTW - my name was made fun of when I was a child because in America, it's traditionally a boy's name. Remove head from rectum and then post.
You need to take your edit to heart OP. You know, the whole "don't reply if you're going to act like a cunt" thing. Because you're doing a pretty good job of making yourself look like just that.
People have given you legitimate, helpful suggestions. But you're so fucking busy standing on your "I conned my bf to be my sperm donor" pedestal and looking your nose down at everyone, even the people that do speak Gaelic and are Irish, to take their opinions for what it's worth, thank them, and move on.
YOU asked for their advice. No one else posted this board asking "What is Nicole going to name her LO"? Do you know why? Because absolutely zero fucks are given about what you name your child. You're going to do what you're going to do. Don't ask people for their opinions and then be completely rude to them when they give them.
smh. Good luck guys. She's going to be a fun one for you.
Jealous people being jealous. That's all. I'm hoping I don't have a boy because honestly, that's the only name I like so if I were to have a girl it would have a much more common name since I would have more "normal" names to choose from.
Wait, people are jealous because they don't like your name choice? What does that even mean?
Assuming this isn't someone trying to be a troll, Lorcan is nice. Maeve and Evangeline are nice old-fashioned names.
Saoirse, or however it's spelled is NMS. I personally don't like names that need to come with their own pronunciation guides. A friend of mine chose a Gaelic name, complete with complex Gaelic spelling for her daughter and has already had to tell people how it's pronounced three times on FB. And she hasn't had the baby yet. But if you enjoy that kind of thing, have at it.
I also like Laoise (Lee-sha). I wish Americans were more cultured, then we wouldn't problems with naming our children as much as we do.
I don't think it's an issue of lacking culture. The issue is that American-English spelling and grammar differ significantly from the Gaelic spellings/pronunciations. There's quite a melting pot of names from different cultures in the US. Some cultures and spellings are just more common. For example, my in-laws are from Latin America. No one has trouble pronouncing or spelling "Nina," "Natalia," or "Maria." Even "Marta" or "Carolina" pose little trouble. You have just chosen a culture and language that is more obscure both in the US and worldwide.

And AGAIN my source was wrong, jeez.
No need to be cunty.
How does jealous equal most of the replies in this thread trying to convince you NOT to name your child that?

I totally thought this at first. I was like, "This sounds like the name of a vampire in some cheesy Twilight knock off." And then I saw the girl name...and now I'm writing a cheesy Twilight knock off with both of these as the main characters.
Due October 6th after four months of clomid, three IUIs, three IVFs and one FET!

I just had to reply to this even though I could care less what you decide to name your child. It seems as though YOU need to be a little more cultured, because in America the word "c*nt" is one of the dirtiest, trashiest word you can use. Its a word that women dont use because they dont want to look like they are trashy, ignorant, and have no class. My jaw dropped when I saw that word used so freely in this post because in America, that word is not your average curse word, its a word that actually makes the person who uses it look trashy. Just thought I would fill you in.
I agree! I was very surprised to see that word added to OP's post and pretty disgusted by the use.

Agreed. I also thought it was rather ironic that we were called out for not being cultured but had to educate her on the pronunciation and meaning behind the cultural name she wanted to use.

OP . You are a total gem.
lorcan screams dungeons and dragons and sci-fi conventions.
Your girls names are ok. It seems like you are trying to hard.
I have a DD that has a name name with a silent letter and just about everybody gets it wrong the first time. You should take that into account before giving your DD a name that no one will get right the first time.
Anyone else find it ironic that the OP is making a big deal about not wanting to "conform," when Gaelic names are the hot trend right now? Maybe not these particular names, but I've seen Gaelic names all over the place lately.
However, considering the majority of her posts have been rude and antagonistic, I'm still not convinced this person isn't a troll.
