Oh my gosh, I'm so confused by names! It's a lot of pressure to name a human. It took me a week to name my dogs! I know I need the name to mean something, and that it has to have a good nickname. The one thing we're sure of is family names for middle names: Kathryn for a girl, Joshua for a boy.
In no particular order, here's our short list with nicknames in parenthesis:
Connor (C.J.) Oliver (Ollie) Cedric (Ced or C.J) Calliope (Callie) Alexa (Lexie) Jesse (J.J.) Tabitha (Tabbie) Cassandra (Cassie) Josephine (Jo or Josie or Penny) Amelia (Amy) Kai (no nic) Caden (C.J.)
Thoughts? I'd really love to name my girl after a strong literary character, because I'm named after one, but I'm having trouble coming up with anything besides Jo and Amy. (Both from Little Women.) Any ideas?

Thanks! My SO is Mexican so we were trying to think of something that would honor that without being too traditional! I hope it's a girl bc I love both those names!
Me too!! We are having a very hard time with names.
Same here! Girls are a little easier, but I've got nothing for a boy!! Does your SO want to do a middle name?? Mine is dead set against it like no room for conversation about it. He says that is not at all in their culture and no one in his family has ever had a middle name. I don't really feel THAT strongly about having to have a middle name so Idc, but I just thought that was strange!!
My DH's mom doesn't have a middle name but I believe all of his siblings have them. My DH is named after the saint of where his family is from so he goes by his middle name. Our kids are having a middle name. I wonder if it is regional then because my DH was the first to be born in the states and is second youngest.
Mom to 10 year old DS and 7 year old DD. Twin girls coming soon!
For a boy I have: Elijah Alfie Harry Isaac George If I had a boy his middle name would be Mark, after my dad
Girl: Annabelle Luna Alice Mae Isla A girl would have Elizabeth as a middle name, all the women in my family have Elizabeth as their middle name Im sure I'll add more as I'm team green and there is plenty of time to change my mind!
Our boy name is Samuel Robert (both are family names) and we just decided our girl name today: Annalise. I like that spelling, but DH likes Analise. So we will see. and of course, this may change before April! We have no ideas for a middle name yet.
The name changes pronunciation w/ the different spellings....
If you are wanting Ann-uh-lees, then go with Annalise.
If you are wanting Ahn-uh-lees, then go with Analise.
Interesting, thanks for sharing! I had come across the pronunciation differences between Annaliese and Annalise, but not for the beginning of the name. I will bring that up to my husband.

Could be. My SO didn't leave Mexico til he was 11 and he's only 22 now.
For girls we like Josephine Lucile (my grandma's middle name), Charlie Leda (DH's grandma's name), Leda Jolie, Remy Lucile or Zoe Leda.
For boys we like Hendrix (Henry for short), Lanagan, Dexter, Tate, and Eli. Axle is my maiden name, so that will be our boys' middle name.
I should add that this is our first, so we're not really rooting either way. We'd like to have one of each, but both love the idea of Josephine and Charlie if we end up with two girls - Chuck and Jo!
I'm pretty set on the name "Aven" for a girl, and the front runner for boy is "Bram".
Bram is on our boy's list! But we're thinking of spelling it "Brahm" (like "Brahm's Lullaby") because that's how we want it pronounced. Do you pronounce your Bram with an "am" sound or an "ah" sound?
Our first daughter, Reagan Jean passed away at 3 weeks of age so for a girl I LOVE Kaysen Rea. Hubby isn't 100% on Kaysen but I love it! He likes some of the names that were on our maybe list from when I was pregnant with Reagan but I feel like new baby, new list. He loves Parker for a boy, I'm not 100% on it so we have lots to discuss in the next 6+ months I would love to incorporate the name Forrest as a middle name for a boy as it was my Dad's middle name and my grandfathers first name... Oh the decisions!
Sorry for your loss. I love the name Raegan and it may be a top contender for a girl for us. I love your other choices as well.
The boy name for us was easy. DH's name is Nick and his mom has been pushing hard for a junior. We both don't like juniors so we're going with Wyatt Nicholas
As for the girl, that's harder! We're thinking Adalyn Pilar. (Pilar is my Mom's middle name and my great grandmother's name)
I've been playing with some ideas and options and these are by no means the final choices but its still so early to think about names that my husband and I haven't been seriously discussing them yet. For a girl maybe Addison Louise and for a boy Cameron Gary.
For a girl I'm on a hunt for a girl name with the nickname Evie after my grandmother Evelyn. So far I like Evangeline and Everlee/Everly. May also just stick with Evelyn. Middle name Joy.
Jackson Lucas is our front runner right now. No girls names.
Jaxon? DH likes it. I think I like it but I'm not TOTALLY sure about it yet. I like that technically it is a name in itself with a different origin instead of an alternate spelling to Jackson but I'm still not sure.
